Chapter 3845
“Regardless of any feelings I may have, he’s still my father, and as long as he’s in the hospital, I will visit him,” Kathryn stated resolutely. “I may feel down every time I leave, but how do you think he feels?”
The strained relationship among Kathryn, her father, and her brothers was fraught with resentment and ongoing tension.
Pedro remained silent, allowing the quiet to linger between them.
On their way, Kathryn asked Pedro to stop in front of a flower shop. She exited the car and returned with a bouquet, choosing to forgo fruit and nutritional supplements.
Pedro couldn’t help but smirk. “Mr. Janzen is going to be annoyed that you only brought flowers. They’re not practical; they’re inexpensive, inedible, and they’ll wilt in a few days. He’d prefer something useful, like nutritional supplements.”
“If I brought those, he’d just sell them for cash,” Kathryn replied with a hint of irony. “Lately, it seems like they’re obsessed with hoarding as much money as possible, trying to sell anything of value.”
She was aware that her father and brothers were planning to leave Jensburg in search of a fresh start.
“Aside from my father, the rest of them are financially stable, yet they’re always scheming for more. If it has any value, they’ll attempt to sell it.”
Pedro paused for a moment before responding, “Your mother revised her will before she passed, redistributing her assets. They didn’t receive much. They’ve never been savvy with their own ventures and consistently end up losing money. Your mother used to bail them out.”
“No matter how much they lost, it was never their own money, so they didn’t care,” Kathryn said, shaking her head.
“They believe the rental income isn’t their own money, so they don’t care,” Kathryn remarked, shaking her head. “They think the income from properties is too small and are fearful of losing their connection to the Farrell Group.”
She continued, “What’s the point of leaving money for descendants who aren’t capable? If they’re more competent than I am, they don’t need my money. And if they’re less competent, even a fortune won’t last; they’ll just squander it.”
Marco and his brothers had never learned how to run a business. Even during the real estate boom, when nearly everyone else was profiting, their investments failed. The properties they developed couldn’t sell, plunging them deep into debt.
Ironically, it was the Farrell Group that stepped in to take over those unsuccessful projects. Under Clarissa’s management and the skilled operations of the Feng Group, the properties were refurbished and eventually sold.
“After that disaster, Mom wouldn’t let them touch real estate again,” Kathryn said. “They’re accustomed to burning through money. But honestly, with their monthly rental income, they’re better off than most people. Even if my brothers never worked another day, they’d never go hungry.”
Their rental income generated tens of thousands, sometimes even hundreds of thousands, each month—enough for a comfortable lifestyle.
“I stopped worrying about them a long time ago,” Kathryn said, her voice growing firm. “Two years ago, if they had shown even a hint of kindness to me, their own sister, I wouldn’t have turned my back on them. But their loyalty has always been to Shiloh. If they need help, they can turn to her.”
“Now they’re even arguing with Shiloh’s mother over whatever little property Shiloh left behind. Some
It still legally belongs to the Farrell family, so they have no claim. However, what is under Shiloh’s name amounts to thousands each month—enough for a comfortable life.

“Now, they are even arguing with Shiloh’s mother over the little property Shiloh left behind. Some of it still legally belongs to the Farrell family, so they have no claim. However, what is under Shiloh’s name may be something her mother can acquire.”
Shiloh harbored no affection for her biological parents. Raised in luxury as the chosen heir of the Farrell family, she could not bear the thought of being connected to them. When Shiloh first discovered the truth, it terrified her.
