Chapter 418

“Oh no!” Serenity exclaimed as a thought struck her. She smacked Zachary’s lap and said, “Zachary, we only have three rooms with beds. Where is Nana going to sleep tonight?” She regretted not purchasing an extra bed for another guest room when she shopped for bedding with Mrs. Lane. Now that Nana was here, they had nothing prepared.

Zachary glanced at her hand that had hit his thigh before shifting his focus to Nana. He had instructed her to go to Serenity’s shop after lunch, but she had gone straight to Brynfield instead. By the time Zachary and Serenity returned from work, it would be late, and since the guest room wasn’t ready, Nana would have to share a bed with Serenity. Knowing Nana, Zachary suspected she would “kick” Serenity out of her room. He was aware that Nana’s top priority after moving in was to have him and Serenity share a bed.

Grandma May remarked, “I’ll sleep with you, Seren.”

“Okay, as long as you don’t mind,” Serenity replied.

The old lady smiled. “Sorry you have to deal with me.”

“Don’t say that. I don’t mind at all. Nana, I’ll take your suitcase to my room,” Serenity said as she stood up and pulled Grandma May’s suitcase into her room.

Grandma May rose to follow her, casting an annoyed glance at Zachary, which he understood. He remained silent, his facial muscles tense. Grandma May entered the bedroom and stayed there, while Zachary sat for a moment before retreating to his own room.

Mrs. Lane was the last to retire for the night. She locked her bedroom door behind her to prevent anyone from getting into her bed in the middle of the night. Zachary, too, locked his bedroom door and took a few steps before pausing. After a moment of contemplation with his brows furrowed, he turned.

She turned around and unlocked the door.
