Chapter 448
Liberty scoffed, “I’ll move out on my own as soon as I recover the renovation costs! I don’t need you to force me out.”
“You won’t receive a single penny back!” Chelsea yelled, wincing from the pain in her face.
Liberty applied ice to her face, while Chelsea did not, causing her discomfort to intensify.
Chelsea felt a searing pain on both sides of her face and knew without needing to look in a mirror that her face was swollen like a pig’s head.
She thought, ‘Liberty! I won’t let you have your way!‘
“I’ll see you in court.”
Grandma May interjected, “Your family is being unfair to Liberty. Since you can’t reach an agreement, there’s no point in discussing this any further. Liberty, you should file for divorce and take them to court.”
Hank threatened her, “Liberty, if you file a lawsuit, you won’t gain anything. Your sister and these people won’t back you up. If you push us into a corner, it will be hard for you to see Sonny again.”
If Liberty pursued a divorce and sought to divide their assets, Hank would ensure Sonny was hidden away so that Liberty could never see her son again.
Liberty shot him a glare and dismissed his threat.
She intended to sue him, claim half of their shared property, and fight for custody of her son. She was determined to stand up for what she deserved and would not allow Hank and Jessica to exploit her.
While Liberty and Hank were locked in a dispute over the divorce terms, Serenity and the York brothers hurried to the Reptons’ house.
Since George Repton had taken Sonny, Serenity suspected that he had brought him back to his home rather than the Browns’ residence.
The Reptons’ house was a custom-built three-story structure with an opulent interior and exterior, standing out prominently in their small town.
George had just returned with Sonny not long ago.
He believed that even if Liberty and Serenity were aware that Sonny was here, they would be unable to come and take him back. He thought the Browns could intervene and prevent the Hunt sisters from doing so. Therefore, after bringing Sonny back, he allowed him to play with his youngest son. Meanwhile, he hid in a room to play video games while his wife was out.
Sonny had been suddenly taken from his mother, causing him to cry throughout the journey. His uncle left him in the hall on the first floor, where he felt frightened in an unfamiliar environment without his mother. Sonny cried out, “Mommy! I want mommy…”
George’s parents, busy in the kitchen, ignored him and let him cry until his voice was hoarse. Lucas watched Sonny’s distress and abruptly walked over to hit him. Although Sonny was upset, he angrily pushed Lucas away. Lucas lost his balance and fell to the ground, immediately bursting into tears.
Hearing Lucas cry, his older brother, sister, and grandparents came out to see what was happening. “Sonny hit me,” Lucas complained. Matthew did not ask his younger brother for details; instead, he stepped forward and kicked Sonny, sending him flying a meter away. He then picked Sonny up and slapped him repeatedly while cursing at him.
Serenity, having just exited the car, heard Sonny’s cries and rushed inside to find him being beaten.
