Xuan Fengnian quietly watched Mai Chengxing and Mike from a distance. Instead of going directly into Buckingham Palace, he decided to stay outside in the shadows. He knew that the palace was always busy and had a strong security system. It would be nearly impossible to avoid being seen without assistance.

Xuan Fengnian believed he could keep a close eye on everyone entering and leaving the palace. As soon as Mai Chengxing and his grandson left, he would follow them. He didn’t completely trust Mai Chengxing. He worried that Mai might not help him find the mysterious person they were after or, worse, take credit for the discovery himself. Xuan Fengnian thought that Mai Chengxing was a clever and tricky old man, so he chose to monitor him secretly. If Mai tried to betray him, he would handle it first.

What Xuan Fengnian didn’t realize was that Mai Chengxing had already made a change in his plans. After leaving Mike at Buckingham Palace, Mai Chengxing followed Charlie Wade’s instructions and went to the old Du family house.

Xuan Fengnian was confused about why Mike was with Mai Chengxing. He figured since Mike was young, he probably didn’t have much experience, so he wasn’t worried about Mai playing tricks on him. With that thought, he got into a rented Volkswagen and followed them.

Mai Chengxing pretended to spend a long time at the old Du house. He pulled out a compass and some talismans, pretending to find something important. After a while, he flagged down a taxi and headed off to his next destination.

Xuan Fengnian had been following Mai Chengxing for some time. They had both explored the Forbidden Mountain Tunnel and then returned to the city to search for more clues. Eventually, they found themselves back at the Buckingham Palace Hotel.

Xuan was convinced that Mai had discovered something significant, especially after he traced Mai’s steps to the old Du family house and around the Zijin Mountain Tunnel. After Mai returned to the hotel, Xuan decided to call him, pretending to be concerned.

“Mr. Mai, is there any progress on the matter?” Xuan asked.

Mai was actually planning to call Xuan first but decided to respond instead. Following Charlie Wade’s advice, he replied, “Master Xuan, the old man has been out and just got back to the hotel, and your call came in.”

Xuan smiled and said, “Oh, Mr. Mai has been out. You must have made some progress. What’s the outcome?”

Mai replied, “To be honest, we have made a significant breakthrough.”

Xuan quickly asked, “What kind of breakthrough? Is it reliable?”

Mai hesitated a bit and said, “Well… Master Xuan, I’m sorry, but I can’t share everything clearly over the phone…”

Xuan grew slightly annoyed and said, “There’s nothing wrong with sharing the clues. Just tell me, and I can handle the rest. That way, we can both move on from this just like Mr. Su.”

Mai chuckled and replied, “Master Xuan, I’ll be straightforward. I can share the clue, but I have a small condition…”

Suddenly, Xuan’s tone turned icy. “What condition? Now that you have some clues, you want to…”

“Can we talk about the terms, Mr. Mai? And remember, you need to find that mysterious person. This is important for your business!”
