Chapter: 2905
When Xuan Fengnian ended the call, he looked furious. He couldn’t believe that an old man like Mai Chengxing would dare to negotiate with him. Just as he was feeling angry, he noticed something moving in his arms. He quickly pulled out his Gu worm, a white, plump creature that wriggled and squeaked, seeming a bit unhappy.
Xuan Fengnian gently patted the worm to calm it down. “Don’t worry! I know you didn’t eat enough last time. I’ve prepared two meals for you tonight, so you’ll have a feast!” Strangely, the worm seemed to understand him. When he mentioned a good meal, it stopped protesting and happily rolled around in his hand.
With a wicked grin, Xuan Fengnian muttered to himself, “Mai Chengxing, you’re old and foolish. Don’t blame me, Xuan Fengnian, for being ruthless! Next year, on this day, will be your death anniversary. Tonight, I’ll feed your and your great-grandson’s brains to my little friend!”
Meanwhile, Mai Chengxing hung up the phone and turned to Charlie Wade beside him. “Master Ye, I’ve done what you asked,” he said earnestly.
Charlie nodded slightly and replied, “Now you need to come with me to Phoenix Mountain Cemetery tonight.”
Mai Chengxing was taken aback and exclaimed, “Master Ye, you said I only needed to set up a meeting with Xuanfeng for you. Why do I have to go with you now?”
Charlie explained, “The area of the cemetery…”
Phoenix Mountain Cemetery is quite large, and if you don’t show up, Xuan Fengnian likely won’t just appear casually. If he notices something is off and decides to leave, he will immediately suspect that you betrayed him. Do you really think he would let you go?
Mai Chengxing’s face turned pale as he considered this. “Charlie Wade is wrong. Since I’ve arranged to meet Xuan Fengnian at the cemetery, if anything goes wrong, he will think I’ve betrayed him. If he wants to retaliate, I won’t be able to do anything to stop him…”
As he thought about this, he worried, “But if I go and Charlie Wade can’t kill Xuan Fengnian, won’t I end up buried with him? Xuan Fengnian is ruthless, and his Fate Gu worms are incredibly powerful. If Charlie Wade isn’t strong enough, we could both end up as food for that white worm…”
Mai Chengxing was lost in thought, trying to consider every possible outcome. Ultimately, he decided he had to trust Charlie Wade and hope he could defeat Xuan Fengnian. The logic was simple: if Charlie succeeded, there was a chance for him to survive; but if he failed, death was certain.
With no other choice, he reluctantly said, “Okay, Master Ye… I will go to Phoenix Mountain with you tonight…”
Later that evening, Charlie Wade dropped Xiao Churan off at home and then left under the pretense of needing to take care of something.
At the entrance of Tomson Yipin, Hong Wu was waiting in a taxi parked by the side of the road. A sign on the taxi read “Stop Operating,” indicating he had been waiting there for a long time.
As Charlie Wade stepped out of the car, Hong Wu quickly got out to greet him. “Master Ye, you’re here!” he said respectfully.
Charlie nodded and pointed at the taxi. “Is there something wrong with this car?” he asked.
Hong Wu quickly replied, “No, it’s a standard taxi. The license plate and all the documents are real. You can trust it.”
Charlie smiled, pleased with the answer. “Great job. Now, give me the car key.”
