Chapter: 2907
Charlie Wade didn’t know Xuan Fengnian or how he acted, but he sensed that someone like Xuan had a deep-seated cruelty. Xuan usually didn’t kill, not because he was kind, but because he didn’t have the chance. If he ever had the opportunity, he wouldn’t hesitate to take it.
Mai Chengxing told Charlie that the last time he saw Xuan Fengnian was at Fenghuangshan Cemetery. Xuan had complained about how the large cemetery had only one security guard, which meant he couldn’t enjoy his favorite meal of gu worms as much as he wanted. This suggested that if Xuan had the chance, he would kill not just one person, but many.
Today, Mai Chengxing was hoping to get something from Xuan, and he must have crossed a line. Xuan would certainly be out for blood, especially since he had invited Mai Chengxing to meet at Phoenix Mountain. If Xuan saw Charlie as just a taxi driver, he wouldn’t hold back.
At this moment, Xuan was following Charlie’s taxi, thinking about how he could kill both Mai Chengxing and his great-grandson, Mike, that night. But as he watched, he saw only Mai Chengxing leave the hotel.
When Mai got into a rental car, Xuan decided to kill the taxi driver too. He wanted to feast on his gu worms, and just killing the old man wouldn’t be enough. He was determined that once Mai arrived at Phoenix Mountain, he would waste no time. First, he would take out the driver, then force Mai to give him the information he needed. Once Mai spilled the details, Xuan planned to end his life too.
Xuan didn’t think much of the elderly Mai Chengxing. He knew that Mai was just an old man with limited defenses.
Charlie Wade had spent a lifetime learning the secrets of Feng Shui, but he was not good at fighting. He also knew he was too old to be a threat to anyone. The taxi driver who casually stopped nearby didn’t worry him at all. In fact, he thought that even a trained soldier or a martial arts expert wouldn’t stand a chance against his Gu worm. To Charlie, an ordinary driver was just a meal for his Gu worm.
As Charlie drove out of the city, he noticed a Volkswagen sedan following him a few cars back. He suspected that Xuan Fengnian was inside that car. However, he chose to ignore it and continued on his way to the Phoenix Mountain Cemetery.
When Charlie arrived at the cemetery, it was just as Xuan Fengnian had mentioned during their phone call—there was no one around. The previous incident where security guards had their brains drained was still a mystery, leaving the entire cemetery team on edge. Because of that, no one was sent to watch over the site at night.
Xuan Fengnian saw Charlie’s taxi make its way up the winding road of the cemetery and turned off his lights to follow. The taxi drove partway up the mountain, and Charlie parked at the entrance of the cemetery.
Mai Chengxing, sitting beside him, looked nervous. “Master Ye, I’ll get out first. Please be careful and watch out for Xuan Fengnian!” he said anxiously. Mai Chengxing was scared that Charlie might not be able to protect himself and worried for his safety.
