“Fengnian has spent half his life training!” Charlie Wade scoffed. “If I get rid of this ghost, do I need to feed it human brains?”

Mai Chengxing was left speechless. After a moment of hesitation, he replied, “I thought killing the Gu worm would be a loss for me.”

Charlie Wade looked down on him. “I, Charlie Wade, will never stoop to using something like that!”

As he spoke, he raised a powerful warning in his hand and shouted, “Thunder!”

In an instant, a bolt of lightning struck Xuan Fengnian’s protective barrier. The lightning crushed both Xuan Fengnian and his Gu worm into nothingness. A strong wind blew, scattering the remnants into the air until they were completely gone.

Mai Chengxing’s face showed his disappointment, but he realized that begging for mercy or trying to show loyalty wouldn’t work. He understood Charlie Wade’s resolve.

He had a strong sense of determination in his heart. Because of this, he always believed he wouldn’t change his mind, no matter how much others pleaded for mercy. The recent events during the Xuanfeng year were a clear example of this.

Right now, the best choice for me is to be compliant and let Charlie Wade take charge. Being under house arrest is tough, but at least it keeps me alive. If I cooperate well with Charlie in the future, I might still have a chance to make things right.
