Chapter: 3001

When Charlie Wade heard that Xiao Churan had new customers, he didn’t think much of it. Xiao Churan’s company has two main areas of work: decoration design and managing decoration projects. Decoration design is her specialty since she is very talented at it. For the decoration projects, she mainly supervises, as the actual work is done by another company.

Currently, the design work for the Emgrand Group is complete, and the decoration is progressing well. Because of this, Xiao Churan and some of her staff are now looking for new projects.

After breakfast, Charlie and Xiao Churan left their house together. Charlie drove her to the old city. After driving for a while, he asked, “My wife, can you give me the exact address? I can use the GPS and check the traffic, too.”

Xiao Churan replied, “I don’t know the exact house number, but I know it’s near the Catholic Church in the old city. You can drive there first.”

Charlie was taken aback by this. It turned out that the old house where he lived with his parents as a child was very close to that church. He started to wonder if Xiao Churan’s new client was Auntie Du Haiqing, Su Zhiyu’s mother. But then he thought he might be overthinking things.

The old city is full of historical buildings, and many of the old houses can’t be torn down or rebuilt. However, there are still many people living there, so Xiao Churan’s search for new projects continues.

Charlie Wade couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something strange about Du Haiqing, but he didn’t want to ask his wife directly. As he drove to the Catholic Church in the old city, he followed Xiao Churan’s directions and turned left. He felt uneasy as he approached the house where he had grown up.

When they reached the alley near his childhood home, Xiao Churan pointed and said, “My husband, my client is that house. Please park right in front.”

Charlie sighed to himself, thinking, “I knew I couldn’t hide from this.” He decided to casually ask Xiao Churan, “Do you need me to wait for you here?”

“No, that’s okay,” she replied quickly. “I’ll probably be here all morning. Once I’m done, I’ll take a taxi to the Emgrand Group hotel. Can you pick me up there later?”

“Sure,” Charlie said, feeling relieved. He hoped he wouldn’t run into Du Haiqing and her daughter, Su Zhiyu, during this visit.

As he parked in front of the old house, preparing to let Xiao Churan out and leave quickly, he noticed a black Mercedes pull up behind him. A middle-aged man stepped out and opened the back doors. To Charlie’s dismay, Du Haiqing and her daughter, Su Zhiyu, got out at the same time Xiao Churan was getting out of the car.

The two families spotted each other, and Charlie’s heart sank.

Xiao Churan was surprised when she heard Du Haiqing call out, “Manager Xiao!” She quickly turned around and smiled, saying, “Hello, Aunt Du!”

Du Haiqing smiled back and asked, “Why did you come so early, Manager Xiao?”

Xiao Churan replied politely, “Aunt Du, we have a lot of renovations and decorations to take care of this time, so I wanted to come early and go over everything with you in detail.”
