Gu Yanzhong smiled and replied, “I was actually planning to go there with Aunt Lin today, but I have a board meeting I can’t miss. I’ll join you in Jinling tomorrow morning.”

“Really?” Lin Wanqiu said excitedly. She moved behind Gu Yanzhong and leaned in to the camera, smiling. “Chen’er, tomorrow is your birthday! Auntie wishes you a happy birthday in advance!”

“Thank you, Aunt Lin!” Charlie said quickly.

Lin Wanqiu had always thought of Charlie as her son-in-law, even like her own son. She smiled and said, “You didn’t come to Yanjing this time to see me and Uncle Gu. We both miss you! Uncle Gu talks about you every day.”

Gu Yanzhong chuckled. “It’s like you’re the one doing all the talking about him!”

Lin Wanqiu laughed and said, “Chen’er is like my own son in my heart. Is it wrong for a mother to care?”

Gu Yanzhong nodded and said to Charlie, “See, Chen’er? Aunt Lin and I really think of you as our own child. If you have time, you must come to Yanjing to see us often!”
