Chapter: 3071
Xiao Weiwei wanted to buy a belt for Charlie Wade, but she had just irritated her grandmother again. Seeing her grandma’s controlling nature, she felt frustrated and said, “Every penny I earn is from my hard work. I can buy what I want. It’s my choice, and you can’t interfere!”
“What?! I have no right to interfere?!” Grandma Xiao was taken aback. After a tough day at Charlie Wade’s, she was already feeling down, and now her granddaughter was talking back to her. Her anger flared up. “Don’t forget, I’m the one in charge of this family! I’ve always been! We’re going through a tough time, and every penny counts! You’re being wasteful and ignoring how serious things are for our family!”
Xiao Weiwei felt hurt and replied angrily, “You used to control everything, but you lost it all! Now we’re back to square one, and I’m starting over. Why shouldn’t I spend my hard-earned money?”
As her anger grew, she raised her voice a bit. “From now on, I’ll handle my own affairs! I’ll give some money for living expenses for you, Dad, and my brother’s treatment, but the rest is mine to spend as I wish. You have no right to interfere!”
Grandma Xiao was furious, clenching her teeth as she shouted, “You’re really going against me! Are you going to be like that ungrateful Xiao Churan and turn your back on me?!”
Xiao Weiwei’s eyes filled with tears.
Xiao Weiwei crossed her arms and said firmly, “Sister Churan is not my concern. She doesn’t listen to you, but she seems much happier than I am!” She continued, “I’ve said all I need to say. If you want to join me, then come along. I’ll give you monthly living expenses, and you won’t need to worry about anything else. But if you don’t want to accept, then I’ll find my own place to live. If that doesn’t work out, I can always sleep in my office. It’s big enough for a bed!”
Hearing this, the old lady panicked and exclaimed, “Oh, Weiwei! What are you saying? Our family has gone through so much to get here. How can I just let you leave?”
The old lady quickly added, “Don’t worry, Weiwei. I won’t interfere with your choices anymore. You can focus on making money, and I’ll handle everything else at home!”
Xiao Weiwei smiled and replied, “Okay! Then it’s settled!”
“Great! It’s a deal!” the old lady said excitedly. Then, she asked, “By the way, how much will you give me for living expenses next month? You know I’m getting older, and I need some health supplements. I think a bit more food would be good too. How about you give me 6,000 yuan for me, your dad, and your brother, plus an extra 2,000 yuan for your father and brother’s rehabilitation costs? That makes it 8,000 yuan a month. What do you think?”
Xiao Weiwei knew that asking for 8,000 yuan a month for living expenses for three people was a bit much. However, she wasn’t too worried about Mrs. Xiao’s demands. For her, it was a big win that Mrs. Xiao was willing to stop trying to control her life.
Even though 8,000 yuan seemed high, her company was doing really well, and she was earning over 10,000 yuan a month. If the company continued to grow, the profits would increase, and she could expect to make between 300,000 to 400,000 yuan a year after taxes and commissions.
So, giving her mother 8,000 yuan each month wouldn’t be a burden for her. More importantly, she believed her father and brother would recover in a month or two and would be able to find jobs to help support the family. That would ease some of the financial pressure.
With that in mind, she nodded and said, “8,000 is fine, but you have to remember your promise: you can’t interfere with my life and freedom anymore! Also, once my dad and brother are working, I will only contribute 3,000 yuan at home. If you don’t agree, I will move out!”
