- The Amazing Son-in-Law [The Charismatic Charlie Wade] (Chinese name) Chapter: 4438
“Wizard…”
Charlie Wade whispered as he turned to the man beside him. “Have you met the guide?”
“No,” the man replied. “I don’t know who the guide is. When we arrived in New York this time, we woke up in a closed garage. The organization had left us the equipment we needed for the mission along with some information. The information included details about our target, their family ties, social connections, and the powerful people around them. Since we knew we would face several high-level warriors, we prepared enhanced weapons. They also reminded us of what to watch out for and the tactics to use. After giving us time to review the information, we waited for the signal to leave. Once we got to the scene, the guide would connect with their contact in the organization to tell me the best time to attack.”
Charlie Wade asked, “What do you mean by ‘connect’?”
The man explained, “The organization doesn’t allow any direct contact between us and the guide. So, the guide will communicate the situation to their contact person in the organization, and then that person will pass the message to me.”
Charlie Wade continued, “How does your contact person get the information to you?”
“They gave us communication devices, but only my device can receive messages from the contact,” the man said.
Marven Ye then asked, “Is your contact person a man or a woman?”
The man shook his head. “I can’t tell. They use a voice changer, so I don’t know if it’s a male or female.”
Charlie Wade thought for a moment and said, “So, my third aunt must be your guide. She will report the right time for you to attack to your contact person, who will then direct you.”
The man nodded and said, “Yes, I saw that the woman who was taken out seemed to have poisoned herself. She must be part of the organization.”
Charlie Wade asked, “So did you get an order to kill everyone inside, or to spare some people?”
The man replied, “The order was to leave no one alive.”
Charlie frowned and said, “Wouldn’t that include the guide? Does she know about this?”
The man shook his head. “I don’t know if she knows.”
Charlie pressed on, “Do you know anything about the guide?”
“I don’t know anything,” the man said, shaking his head again. “The guide and dead man are just different roles in the organization. The dead man’s information is the hardest to get because we are always watched. We are like prisoners. We only know what the organization tells us, and we have no way to find out anything else.”
Charlie nodded and asked, “If you complete your mission, what happens next?”
The man answered, “Once the task is done, we go back to the garage and receive drug injections there. We don’t have to worry about anything else; the organization will take us back.”
Charlie looked at him and asked, “If your subordinates have committed suicide, how will the organization treat your families?”
The man replied, “Since we failed our mission this time, the organization will say we were loyal to the British Lord. They won’t harm our families. In fact, they will take better care of them.”
Charlie said thoughtfully, “That explains why you and your…”
“Subordinates are very decisive when it comes to taking poison to end their lives,” the man said.
“Yes,” he continued. “Most of the people who die this way don’t have a peaceful end. Many of them suffer a lot. If someone dies with faith, it can happen quickly and without pain. This kind of death can also provide better living conditions for their families, so it can be seen as a noble sacrifice.”
Marven Ye asked, “How many dead soldiers are there in your group?”
The man paused for a moment before shaking his head. “I’m not sure. In our dead soldiers camp, there are about 1,110 households and 1,900 dead soldiers. Including men, women, and children, the total population is probably a few thousand.”
Charlie Wade looked surprised. “So, your organization isn’t just about your group of dead?”
“That’s right,” the man replied. “There are death camps all around the world, but I don’t know how many there are.”
