- The Amazing Son-in-Law [The Charismatic Charlie Wade] (Chinese name) Chapter: 4520
“Me?”
Charlie Wade smiled slightly and replied casually while driving, “Yes, my name is Charlie Wade. I’m twenty-eight years old and I come from the mainland.”
Liu Manqiong looked at him and asked, “Aren’t you just an assistant at Yisu Shipping? If that’s true, why does the entire Wanlong Palace belong to you?”
Charlie kept his eyes on the road, turned the car left, and said, “I didn’t create Wanlong Palace, nor did I buy it. I was kind to Wan Pojun, the hall master, and because of that, he willingly handed it over to me. Everyone at Wanlong Palace is loyal to me.”
After a brief pause, he continued, “As for being an assistant at Yisu Shipping, I’m just playing a friendly role. Your family works in shipping too, right? You might have heard from your father that Yisu Shipping is known for its armed escort services, which work closely with Wanlong Palace. This partnership ensures the safest shipping in the world, and that’s where I fit in.”
Liu Manqiong looked puzzled and asked, “But Wan Pojun is the master of Wanlong Palace. If you wanted people or money, how could he owe you a favor?”
Charlie smiled again and said, “It’s complicated, and I can’t go into details, but that’s how it is.”
Liu Manqiong pressed on, “So what are you doing on Hong Kong Island? I find it hard to believe that you have such a big background that you’d come here personally to talk business with my father.”
Charlie chuckled and replied, “Didn’t I tell you? I’m here to oversee some important matters.”
“What kind of matters are so important that you need to be here in person?” Liu Manqiong asked.
Charlie thought for a moment and said, “The issue involves a friend of my father’s who faced some unfair treatment.”
Charlie Wade arrived on Hong Kong Island to help bring about justice. He turned to Liu Manqiong and said, “If you’re wondering what kind of justice I’m talking about, I can’t say much right now. But I promise it will come soon. Once this is over, I’ll leave Hong Kong Island, and it shouldn’t affect your life too much.”
As he spoke, Charlie had a plan forming in his mind. He knew that Lau Ka Fai was not a good person and had broken promises to his father. However, he also recognized that Lau had a good daughter.
Keeping Liu Manqiong in mind, Charlie didn’t want to punish Liu Jiahui too harshly. His main goal was to ensure that Uncle Zhong could live peacefully on Hong Kong Island without any threats. He wanted all the local bosses, including Lau Ka Fai, to respect Uncle Zhong and his family.
Charlie believed that once he resolved Uncle Zhong’s issues, he could then give Liu Jiahui a fair punishment, which he thought would be a satisfactory solution.
Earlier, after surprising Hong Yuanshan and Zhong Yunqiu, Charlie had almost asked Liu Jiahui if he remembered his promise to Ye Changying. But he held back. He didn’t want Liu Manqiong to know he was there to teach her father a lesson.
Even though Liu Jiahui had his flaws, he was still Liu Manqiong’s father. Charlie could see that, despite her outward anger towards him, Liu Manqiong still cared for her father deeply.
Charlie Wade decided to go out of his way for Liu Manqiong. He wanted to help her recover her childhood memories after the loss of her mother. He even rented an entire street just for her and was willing to take a financial hit to make it happen. Additionally, he bravely went to a nightclub to talk with Hong Yuanshan on her behalf, showing how much he cared for her.
Because of this, Charlie’s opinion of Liu Jiahui began to shift. He realized that he wanted to steer clear of Liu Manqiong when dealing with Liu Jiahui in the future.
