So, she answered the call, forced a smile, and looked at Qian Hongyan on the other end.

“Oh Hongyan, what are you doing?”

Qian Hongyan quickly replied, “Sister Lan, I just woke up! I saw on your social media that you’re going back to China, so I sent you a video to say hi.”

Ma Lan looked surprised. “It’s almost night. You just got up?”

Qian Hongyan laughed. “Oh, Sister Lan, you forget so easily! We have a time difference. It’s still morning here!”

Ma Lan’s eyes lit up as she understood. “Oh right! How could I forget? No wonder no one liked my post; everyone must be sleeping…”

Qian Hongyan smiled flatteringly. “Sister Lan, when is your flight? When are you arriving in Jinling?”

Ma Lan proudly replied, “My plane takes off in about an hour, but I’m not going back to Jinling just yet.”

“Really?” Qian Hongyan’s face fell. “Where are you going if not Jinling?”

Ma Lan beamed. “Charlie Wade booked me a first-class ticket to Hong Kong Island! I’m stopping there for a few days. A good friend keeps inviting me, and it’s nice to spend time at her villa.”

Qian Hongyan couldn’t hide her envy. “Wow, Sister Lan! You really know everyone! Your friend has a private jet, right? The one you mentioned on social media?”

“Yes!” Ma Lan said, feeling pleased. “They’re amazing! They’re worth billions, just like our domestic Beverage King.”

“Distant relative!”
