- The Amazing Son-in-Law [The Charismatic Charlie Wade] (Chinese name) Chapter: 4771
Uncle Ma glared at Charlie Wade, his expression cold and threatening. He said, “If you can’t tell me what I want to know, I have a way to make your life a nightmare.”
Charlie Wade, curious, replied, “What do you have in mind? I’m listening.”
Uncle Ma’s face twisted into a more menacing look. He gritted his teeth and said, “Do you really think I won’t do it? When you’re on the operating table, I’ll make sure they don’t give you anesthesia. You’ll feel every cut like a thousand swords!”
Charlie Wade nodded, seemingly impressed. “Now that’s a good idea!” he said with a grin.
Then, he turned to the surgeon beside him. “Hardik, right? Are you the one in charge of the surgery here?”
Hardik gave a stiff smile and replied, “I’m just responsible for the operation itself, not anything else.”
“Alright,” Charlie said, still smiling. “You have potential; you could go far.”
A Liang, confused, looked at Uncle Ma and asked, “Shouldn’t this kid be scared? He seems a little out of it.”
Uncle Ma felt uncertain too. To be cautious, he turned to A Liang and asked, “Did you pay attention on the way here? Were we followed?”
“Of course not,” A Liang replied seriously. “We were watching the rearview mirror the whole time. No cars have followed us or acted strangely. Lao Mo confirmed there are no other vehicles in sight.”
Uncle Ma nodded, then looked back at Charlie Wade. “I really want to know—why aren’t you afraid? Are you not scared of dying?”
Charlie Wade smiled.
“I’m afraid of death,” Charlie Wade said.
Uncle Ma frowned and asked, “Are you really afraid of death, or are you just pretending?”
Charlie replied calmly, “I’m afraid of death, but not of you. You can’t kill me.”
Suddenly, Uncle Ma pulled a pistol from his waist and aimed it at Charlie. He demanded, “Tell me, what are you doing?”
Charlie, trying to lighten the mood, spoke in a Hong Kong-Taiwan accent and said, “Hey, you really are a train. You’ve asked me the same question many times.”
At that moment, Ah Liang spoke up to Uncle Ma. “Uncle Ma, why don’t you ignore him? I think he’s just trying to scare you into shooting him. Don’t act on impulse. If you shoot him, it will cost you at least a million dollars.”
Uncle Ma nodded thoughtfully and said coldly, “It sounds like he’s having a stress response. Let’s just lock them up for now. Also, increase security tonight. If anything happens, let me know right away.”
“Okay, don’t worry, Uncle Ma!” Ah Liang replied quickly.
Uncle Ma grunted and turned to leave, but Charlie sneered and said, “I thought you had some impressive stories from Mexico, but it looks like you’re just involved in dirty work. You really aren’t afraid of karma for making money this way!”
Uncle Ma turned back, eyeing Charlie warily. “What do you mean by that?”
Charlie smiled slightly and asked, “You haven’t been in touch with Mei Yuzhen lately, have you?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?!” Uncle Ma and Ah Liang both gasped, their faces turning pale as they reached for their weapons.
Their guns were aimed at Charlie Wade all at once. A Liang suddenly shouted, “Where did you hear that? Mei Yuzhen? Are you a spy?”
Uncle Ma didn’t believe Charlie Wade was a smuggler. He tightened his grip on the trigger and glared at Charlie Wade. “Let’s skip the games, brother. Which way are you going? How do you know about Mei Yuzhen?” he asked coldly.
