Just then, Charlie spoke up, “Harold, do you remember our bet?”

With Claire winning the contract, it was clear he had lost… “No! Absolutely not! There’s no way I’m groveling at that loser’s feet! Over my dead body!”

Through gritted teeth, he sneered, “Charlie Wade, who do you think you are? Just a useless toy boy who married into our family! You seriously expect me to bow before you?”

Charlie responded flatly, “Yes, I’m just a toy boy. But remember, we made an oath yesterday. Whoever breaks it will face dire consequences—your mother, father, grandparents, all of them!” He emphasized the word ‘grandma,’ and Lady Wilson’s face darkened.

She glared at Harold and asked coldly, “What’s it going to be? Do you really want to bring harm upon me?”

Panicking, Harold blurted out, “Grandma, don’t listen to him! He just wants to humiliate me and insult you!”

Charlie replied calmly, “Harold, don’t try to deceive Grandma. You made a vow. If you break it, you’ll be cursed. Do you want to condemn her?”

“Grandma, we were just joking! You can’t take it seriously!”

Lady Wilson, her face expressionless, said, “You know I’m a devoted Buddhist. How dare you break a promise made before God?!”

“Grandma…” Harold was genuinely panicking now, as it was clear she was truly furious!

Seeing Harold’s hesitance to keep his promise, which would protect his own pride, Lady Wilson slammed the table and shouted, “Are you really going to break your oath?”

“Grandma, I…” Harold stuttered. In his mind, he quickly weighed his options.

If he followed the betting rules and admitted defeat to Charlie, he would lose face. But if he defied the bet and angered his grandma, he would lose everything in the Wilson family! He would be risking far more than just his pride!

Reluctantly, he gritted his teeth and muttered, “Fine! I’ll uphold my promise!”

Swallowing his humiliation, Harold bowed his head again and shouted, “I’m sorry!”
