Loreen rushed to Doris’s office as soon as she got the call. Meanwhile, Charlie seized the opportunity and hurried downstairs.
Upon reaching his car, he spotted Claire exiting the building, looking tired and worn out.
She expressed her frustration, saying, “I have too much on my plate; 24 hours just aren’t enough.”
With a heavy heart, Charlie suggested, “Why not delegate some tasks to others? Or perhaps consider not doing everything?”
“No way,” Claire replied firmly. “I was just appointed as the director, and I need to show my dedication to solidify my position. If I don’t work hard, my cousin will jump at the chance to undermine me.”
The thought of Harold, with his repugnant demeanor, annoyed Claire greatly. He always seemed to act against her interests and undermine her efforts.
As they made their way home, Claire closed her eyes to catch a moment of rest, while Charlie drove attentively, ensuring not to disturb her.

Having only recently been made the administrative director, she was now being transferred to the sales department. Why was this happening?
Doris explained, “I believe you have immense talent that’s being wasted in administration. After reviewing your resume, your background in business management and marketing makes sales a much better fit for you. Sales and marketing are crucial for our company’s success. If you excel in this new role, it could lead to great opportunities for you.”
Doris was being sincere. The sales department indeed held greater significance than administration. It was the revenue-generating powerhouse of the company, while administration dealt with more mundane tasks.
Loreen didn’t dwell on the implications for long. If she could excel in sales and contribute positively to the company’s profits, perhaps the chairman would take notice of her efforts! This was exciting news for her!
As soon as she left Doris’s office, brimming with joy, she called her close friend Claire.
When Claire answered, Loreen exclaimed, “Claire, I’m the new sales director!”
“Really?” Claire perked up, clearly excited by the news. “That’s fantastic! You’ve always belonged in sales. It was too limiting for you to be in administration! Now you’ll have the chance to truly shine!”
“Yay!” Loreen replied cheerfully. “Let’s celebrate with dinner later! Invite Charlie too!”
In a tired voice, Claire said, “Honestly, we’re almost home, and I’m completely drained today. Can we postpone the celebration?”
Understanding Claire’s busy schedule, Loreen quickly responded, “Of course! You’ve been working so hard with all those meetings and overtime. Go home and relax! We’ll celebrate once the project is on track!”
“Sounds good,” Claire agreed. “Once this workload eases up, we’ll definitely get together for some fun!”
Loreen chuckled, “It’s a deal!”
However, after ending the call, Loreen felt a wave of disappointment wash over her. Living in Aurous Hill, she didn’t have many friends—Claire was her only confidante.
