Then there was the box of Yellow Crane Tower cigars, each costing five thousand dollars, and with fifty cigars in total, that box was valued at over two hundred thousand dollars! Just by tallying up the liquor and cigars, they were looking at a fortune of at least one million dollars!
So, why shouldn’t she accept such generous gifts?
Plus, owning a VIP card from Treasure Pavilion would surely let her flaunt her status among friends!
Claire, witnessing her mother’s obsession with material wealth, hesitantly interjected, “Mom…”
Elaine shot her a glare before responding, “What is it? Are you going to tell me not to accept these gifts?”
Claire took a breath and replied, “I just think we shouldn’t take these gifts so lightly. We don’t really know the circumstances, so how can we just accept such expensive items?”
Charlie quickly chimed in, “If it’s an apology gift, then we should definitely accept it.”
The middle-aged man present felt a wave of relief wash over him.
Before arriving, his boss had warned him that if Charlie turned down the gifts, he wouldn’t need to return to work.
As Charlie turned around, he noticed that Elaine had already moved the box of liquor and cigars into the house. At that moment, she was holding the antique vases and examining them under the light. Charlie shook his head and told the middle-aged man, “Thank you for delivering the gifts. You can head out now.”
“Alright then, Mr. Wade. I won’t disturb you any longer.”
Afterward, Charlie closed the door and turned to walk back into the house, surprised to see everyone staring at him.
Elaine cleared her throat and smirked, asking, “Charlie, when did you become friends with the owner of Treasure Pavilion? Why did they come all the way here just to apologize to you?”
Charlie shook his head and explained, “Mom, I think there’s been a misunderstanding. I’m not friends with the owner of Treasure Pavilion. I believe they came to apologize simply because they value good customer service. Since their staff made a mistake, the boss likely wants to apologize and compensate us to maintain Treasure Pavilion’s good reputation…”
Elaine’s expression shifted to frustration as she remarked, “I thought you had suddenly become a respectable man with connections. But it seems it’s just their customer service that’s granting us all these gifts…”
Claire, still a bit confused, pondered why Treasure Pavilion would offer such lavish gifts as compensation, even with their excellent service.
However, Elaine was in high spirits after receiving so many gifts and began to think about how much she could earn by selling the liquor and cigars.
After dinner, as Charlie washed the dishes, his phone rang.
The caller was Graham, the man Charlie had recently assisted.
Graham was the one who had given him the jade bracelet.
On the line, Graham greeted him respectfully, “Mr. Wade!”
Charlie replied, “Yes? How can I assist you?”
Graham quickly responded, “I truly want to thank you for your advice during our last meeting. Thanks to you, the Quinton family is in a much better place now. I’m really grateful for your guidance; without it, we would have faced total ruin.”
Charlie smiled and asked, “But things aren’t exactly smooth sailing right now, are they? Otherwise, you wouldn’t be calling me at this hour.”
Graham chuckled awkwardly, “Mr. Wade, you really have a knack for seeing through things. There’s nothing I can hide from you.”
Charlie continued to smile, remaining silent.
Eventually, Graham stuttered, “Mr. Wade, I’m reaching out to ask for your help with the Quinton family once more. I know we owe you a great deal, and the Quinton family will always remember what you have done for us.”
