Charlie nodded with a smile, saying, “I’ve come to meet all the masters here today.”
A middle-aged man in a flowing gown looked at him in surprise and asked, “So, is this the buyer who acquired the final treasure at the auction for one hundred million dollars?”
Finn beamed as he introduced Charlie to the crowd. “Yes, this is Mr. Wade.”
“What? Can he really be considered a master?” Zeke remarked, casting a disdainful glance at Charlie. He then smirked and continued, “It seems anyone can call themselves a master these days. Even someone off the street could claim that title. Yet, Mr. Yaleman is a true master—humble and always keeping a low profile.”
As soon as Zeke finished, an awkward silence fell over the crowd.
Though Zeke’s jab at Charlie was intentional, many in attendance felt that Charlie didn’t quite fit the bill of a master, either due to his age or his attire.
The majority of the guests were established figures in the metaphysics community, leading many to believe it was inappropriate for Finn to label Charlie as a master, as this would place him on their level.
At that moment, Jack stood up, offering a calm smile. “It’s alright, everyone. Let’s take this opportunity to get to know one another better. By the end of the day, I believe we’ll all recognize who truly deserves the title of master.”
As Jack spoke, all eyes turned to Charlie.

Jasmine frowned, sensing that Jack was likely targeting Charlie to get back at him. However, she hadn’t anticipated the atmosphere would become so tense upon their arrival.

“How will we compare our skills?” someone inquired.
“Naturally, it will be based on your magical and spiritual levels,” Zeke replied.
Jack then stood up to explain, “The rules are quite simple. There are five disciplines in the metaphysical field. You can choose the category in which you excel and select any opponent you wish to compete against!”
The rules seemed fair, and most guests nodded in agreement, pleased with the prospect of earning money from the competition.
Typically, masters in the metaphysical field prefer to keep their skills private, as no one wants to expose their abilities so readily. However, since all the guests were highly skilled and reputable within the metaphysical community, a competition would allow them to gauge each other’s talents while also earning a cash reward—an opportunity that felt like hitting two targets with one arrow!
“Just to learn from one another?” Charlie scoffed upon hearing the competition’s rules. He knew that Jack’s true intention behind organizing this event was to prove his superiority over others.
As whispers spread among the guests, Zeke interjected, “We realize that the cash prize alone may not excite everyone, as a few million dollars is trivial to many of you.”
Silence enveloped the room after Zeke’s announcement.
Moments later, uneasy murmurs began to fill the air.
“What if the challenger picks a category where the other party lacks expertise?” someone questioned.
“Newton University is renowned for being the best. Isn’t this just a ploy to seize control from others?” another voice chimed in.
“Is this a joke? Newton has its own way of doing things. It’s absurd to think we should submit to others! Besides, aren’t there some people here from outside Newton?”
