When Harold realized that the couple had come to view properties at Thompson First, he saw it as the perfect chance to mock them.
Charlie couldn’t help but sneer as he caught Harold’s sarcastic tone directed at both him and Claire. “What? If someone like you is able to view properties at Thompson First, then why can’t we be here today?” he retorted.
With a sneer, Harold replied, “The reason my family and I are here is that we can actually afford to buy one of the houses! Can you even manage that?”
Charlie flashed a confident smile. “How can you be so sure that I can’t afford any of the houses here?”
Harold let out a derisive snort. “If you can buy any of the properties here, then I’m a ghost! Do you have any idea how much these houses cost? Even the smallest one is over a hundred and twenty square meters and starts at ten million dollars! Do you even have ten million dollars?”
Charlie chuckled. “Why would I even consider one of the smallest houses? If I decide to buy, I’ll aim for the biggest one.”
“Boo!” Harold laughed mockingly. “You mean the largest two hundred and forty square meter house? You really are overly ambitious!”
At that moment, Wendy joined in the laughter, adding, “Yes, Charlie. Do you honestly think you could afford a two hundred and forty square meter house? Even our family couldn’t manage that! Who do you think you are? There’s no way you could afford it!”
Charlie turned to her with a smile. “Who says I want to buy the two hundred and forty square meter house?”
Wendy let out a scoff. “So, what are you implying? Didn’t you just say you were interested in the biggest house? Are you backtracking now?”
Chuckling, Charlie replied, “Wendy, you really don’t know much, do you? The largest properties in Thompson First are the villas located in the heart of the community.”
“Hahaha!” Wendy burst into laughter. “The villas? Even the smallest ones cost tens of millions! The most expensive villa is at least one hundred million dollars. You’d never be able to save that much money, even if you worked hard for eight lifetimes!”
Charlie simply smiled and said, “Coincidentally, I happen to own one of the biggest villas here!”
“Hahaha!” Harold and his entire family erupted in laughter at Charlie’s claim. Harold then pointed at Charlie with contempt, saying, “You? You own one of the biggest villas in Thompson First? Are you trying to make a fool of yourself, Charlie?”
At this point, many other potential buyers in the vicinity were also staring at Charlie, having overheard his bold statement. “He’s dressed so casually; he doesn’t look like he could be wealthy at all. Do you really think he can afford a villa in Thompson First?” one person remarked.
“If he’s really the owner of a villa here, then I could easily buy the entire Thompson First community!” another chimed in.
“He’s quite the braggart!” someone else said.
Claire, visibly pale, leaned closer to Charlie and whispered, “Charlie! What are you saying? Why are you making such ridiculous claims? Aren’t you worried about embarrassment?”
Charlie smiled back at her, saying, “Why would I be embarrassed if I’m speaking the truth?”
Harold laughed mockingly, “Look! Even your own wife doesn’t believe you! All the people here today aren’t fools. It’s obvious you don’t belong in this sales center!”
He then declared, “Wait! I’ll get a salesperson to escort you out right now!”
Moments later, Harold brought over one of the staff and pointed at Charlie, saying, “Miss, what’s going on here? How did you allow someone like this to enter the sales center and ruin the value of these properties? Did you know he actually claimed to own one of the largest villas in Thompson First? He’s devaluing the properties here!”
The sales lady glanced at Charlie, noting his very casual attire.
There was no way Charlie could afford even the smallest three-bedroom house in Thompson First, let alone its most extravagant villa.
The crowd began to shout, “Hurry up and throw this young man out! He’s really ruining our mood right now!”
