Wendy and Christopher were struggling to accept the shocking reality they faced. It felt as though they had been publicly humiliated, and the urge to disappear completely overwhelmed them.

This situation was utterly absurd!

Suddenly, an elderly man emerged from the villa.

Approaching Charlie, the old man asked respectfully, “Excuse me, are you Mr. Wade?”

Charlie nodded and responded, “Yes, I am. May I ask who you are?”

The old man introduced himself, saying, “Hello, Mr. Wade. I am Mr. White’s butler, responsible for the upkeep of this villa. My name is Barry Landon, but you can just call me Barry. I handle the maintenance here.”

“Barry?” Wendy gasped, her expression one of shock as if she had just received an electric shock.

Wasn’t Barry the butler for her fiancé Gerald? Why was he here?

Did this villa actually belong to the White family?

If that were true, then why was it now under Charlie’s name?

Wendy quickly inquired, “Barry, what’s happening? Does this villa really belong to the White family?”

Barry confirmed, “Yes, it used to belong to the White family, but it is now Mr. Wade’s.”

Then, turning to Charlie, Barry asked, “Mr. Wade, the renovations are still ongoing. When do you intend to move in? I can arrange for the workers to speed up the process and ensure everything is ready for you.”

Charlie replied, “We won’t be moving in just yet. Please continue overseeing the villa for me. I’ll contact you when I’m ready.”

“Understood, Mr. Wade!” Barry acknowledged, bowing slightly before stepping aside, waiting for Charlie to enter the villa.

Wendy remained stunned, and her family members were equally taken aback by the revelations.

“The White family’s butler?” Wendy exclaimed, still in disbelief. “Are you referring to Gerald’s family?”

Charlie looked at her and smiled, “Yes, that’s right. I’m talking about Gerald’s family. His uncle gifted me this house.”

“What?!” Wendy felt as if her mind was about to explode!

This villa had originally belonged to her fiancé’s family?

In other words, she could have been the future owner of this villa?

Why on earth would they give it to Charlie?

This was supposed to be her villa!

Wendy’s parents were equally confused and angry.

Since their daughter was set to marry into the White family, they believed the villa should have been passed down to her. Why was it given to Charlie instead? It was preposterous!

Hannah quickly turned to Wendy, asking, “Wendy, what’s going on? Did you have any idea that the White family owned this villa?”

Wendy shook her head and replied, “No, I had no idea. Gerald never mentioned it to me…”

Hannah urged, “You need to call Gerald right now! Find out what’s happening!”

“Okay,” Wendy agreed.

She swiftly pulled out her cell phone and dialed Gerald’s number.

As soon as he picked up, Wendy asked, “Gerald, does your family own a villa in Thompson First?”

Gerald confirmed, “Yes, we own one of the villas there. What’s going on?”

Wendy’s tone was filled with frustration as she replied, “Why didn’t you tell me about this? Wasn’t this villa supposed to be our future home?”

“No,” Gerald responded immediately. “My uncle bought that villa for his retirement. He loves the environment at Thompson First. Why would he give it to us?”

Gerald then asked, “How did you find out about the villa?”

Feeling hurt, Wendy couldn’t hold back her tears. “Did you know that your uncle gave away his villa?”

“Gave it away?” Gerald asked in disbelief. “Who did he give it to?”

Wendy continued sobbing as she replied, “He gave it to Charlie! My incompetent brother-in-law, Charlie!”
