The secret pill was crafted by the renowned Chinese physician, Sun Simiao, during the Tang Dynasty. Although his influential writings were widely shared, most have faded into obscurity. His most notable work was a memorandum chronicling the clinical experiences and medical practices from past dynasties, which also found a place in the Apocalyptic Book.

This particular text held greater clinical significance than the other two medical volumes, yet today, it remains largely unknown. Many medical practitioners have never even heard of it, leading to its near-complete disappearance from modern awareness.

In a flurry of activity, Charlie prepared a box containing six walnut-sized honey pills, following the prescriptions outlined in the medical texts.

Just as he finished, Jacob and Claire returned home.

Jacob was in considerable pain, making it increasingly difficult for him to walk or move comfortably.

Claire, visibly worried, quickly inquired, “Dad, if the massage didn’t help, should we go to the hospital for a check-up? What do you think?”

Jacob waved her off, saying, “Oh, I really don’t want to go to the hospital. It’s too much hassle. I’d have to undergo blood and urine tests. I’m fine for now. I just need to sit down and rest.”

Claire had taken Jacob for a massage to improve his blood circulation, but he hadn’t anticipated that it would have no effect at all. In fact, he felt an increase in headache intensity. All he wanted was to rest, fearing he might faint if he didn’t.

At that moment, Charlie emerged with the pills he had just prepared.

Claire caught a whiff of the medicinal herbs in the air and, with a look of astonishment, asked, “Charlie, are you really making medicine?”

Charlie gestured towards the pills in his hand and said, “Dad, this pill can enhance your blood circulation and eliminate blood clots in your brain. It’s very effective. Why don’t you try one?”

Jacob regarded Charlie as he picked up a pill, inspecting it closely. The fresh medicinal aroma wafted up to his nose, and he felt a wave of refreshment.

He looked up at Charlie in disbelief and asked, “Did you really make this yourself?”

“Yes!” Charlie affirmed enthusiastically. “I just made it.”

Jacob pressed further, “Have you studied medicine before?”

Charlie replied, “I learned from an elderly man who worked as a cleaner at the orphanage. His family has a long lineage of Chinese physicians.”

Jacob gazed at Charlie skeptically and asked, “Are you sure about this? Can something taught by a cleaner actually be effective?”

“I assure you it will work. Dad, why not take one of the pills? I’m confident you’ll feel better right away,” Charlie insisted.

Feeling a bit anxious, Jacob considered his current discomfort and decided to take the plunge, quickly swallowing the pill.

Before Claire could ask Charlie more about the pill’s origins, Jacob had already taken it. She quickly turned to him and asked, “Dad, how do you feel?”
