The Amazing son in law Chapter 2
Ten billion dollars?! Charlie was taken aback, his eyes wide and his mouth hanging open in disbelief.
While he always knew his grandfather was incredibly wealthy, he had been too young to grasp the true implications of money back then. He only understood that the Wade family was among the richest in Eastcliff and even in the entire country, but the actual net worth had been a mystery to him.
Now, the reality hit him. If ten billion dollars was merely pocket change, then the Wade family’s total wealth must exceed one trillion dollars.
To be honest, he felt a mix of emotions—touched yet unsettled. Thoughts of his late parents flooded his mind, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that his grandfather played a role in their tragic fate. Forgiveness would not come easily.
Noticing Charlie’s turmoil, Stephen quickly interjected, “Young Master, as a member of the Wade family, this money is rightfully yours. In fact, it technically belongs to your father.”

“The Master mentioned that if you choose to return home, he will allow you to inherit the family’s vast empire worth one trillion dollars. If you prefer to stay away for now, you can use this money for your living expenses.”
“Oh, and there’s more. The Emgrand Group, Aurous Hill’s largest and most profitable company with a market value of one hundred billion dollars, was fully acquired by the Wade family yesterday. All the shares are now under your name, and you can claim your rights at the company tomorrow!”
Charlie listened in a daze, struggling to comprehend the enormity of it all. Wasn’t this an overwhelming investment by the Wade family on his behalf? A premium black card loaded with ten billion dollars and ownership of the Emgrand Group, valued at one hundred billion dollars!
Aurous Hill was known for its talent, but the Emgrand Group was its shining star. It dominated the local business scene, commanding respect from all influential families, including those who had belittled him today: the Wilson family, the White family, and even the Jones family, who were still trying to win over his wife. To think they were mere subordinates compared to the Emgrand Group! And now, it belonged to him?
Stephen handed Charlie a business card. “Young Master, you may need some time to process all this, so I’ll take my leave. Here’s my card with my contact information. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything!”
With that, Stephen turned and exited. Charlie remained in a stupor long after he had left.
He was torn about whether to accept the Wade family’s compensation. But then he recalled the hardships he endured over the last decade, especially the humiliations he faced during his marriage to Claire. Perhaps this was the compensation he deserved for his suffering. Furthermore, Miss Lewis urgently needed two million dollars for her medical treatment.
Clenching the card tightly, he made his way back to the cashier. “Hello, I’d like to settle the bill.”
He swiped the card, entered the password, and just like that, the transaction was complete. Two million dollars were transferred to the hospital’s account. Charlie felt as if he were floating—had he really become a billionaire in an instant?

He returned home in a haze. Upon entering, he could feel the tension in the air. Claire and her parents had moved out of the Wilson family villa and were living in a modest home instead. After Claire married Charlie following Lord Wilson’s death, they had been forced out of the villa.
His mother-in-law was spewing outrage, “Charlie Wade, you loser! You’re such an embarrassment! If you don’t divorce him now, your grandma might kick you out of the Wilson Group!”
Claire, remaining calm, replied, “If that happens, I’ll just find another job.”
“You…” Her mother snapped back, “What’s so great about that loser? Why don’t you just divorce him and marry Wendell? If you marry Wendell Jones, our family can hold our heads high!”
Her father chimed in, “Your mom’s right! Marrying Wendell would elevate our family’s status. Your grandma would treat you like royalty!”
Claire firmly stated, “Just stop. I will not divorce Charlie.”
“You!” Both parents were about to continue when Charlie pushed the door open and stepped inside.
His in-laws shot him disdainful looks. His mother-in-law scoffed, “I thought you’d forgotten how to come home, loser!”
Charlie sighed inwardly. If only she knew he was now the owner of the Emgrand Group and had ten billion dollars in cash. However, this wasn’t the right moment to reveal his true identity. He had distanced himself from the Wade family for so long; who knew what they were up to? Exposing himself could invite trouble. For now, it was best to remain in the shadows.
So, he lowered his head and spoke softly, “Mother, I’m sorry for the trouble I’ve caused today.”
His mother-in-law shouted, “Trouble? This is more than trouble! You’re endangering us! Can’t you show a bit of decency and leave our house?”
Claire quickly defended him, “Mom, how can you say that? Charlie is your son-in-law!”
“Nonsense!” her mother growled. “I don’t want such a loser as my son-in-law! The farther he is from us, the better!”
Claire nudged Charlie. “Come on, let’s go back to our room.”
Charlie nodded gratefully and followed her into the room.
Though they had been married for three years, they had never shared a bed, with Charlie sleeping on the floor beside Claire’s bed.
That night, Charlie found it difficult to sleep. The events of the day had left him in shock, and he struggled to process everything.
Before drifting off, Claire asked, “How is Mrs. Lewis doing? I have about one hundred thousand dollars with me; you can use it tomorrow.”
Charlie replied, “It’s alright. Someone has already paid her bill and transferred her to Eastcliff for treatment.”
“Really?” Claire exclaimed, her eyes wide with surprise. “So, Mrs. Lewis will be okay?”
“Yes,” Charlie assured her. “Mrs. Lewis has done so many good deeds in her life, helping others. Now, someone is returning the favor.”
“That’s great to hear.” Claire smiled. “You can rest easy now.”
“Yes.”
“I need to get some sleep. There’s so much to handle at the company, and I’m exhausted.”
“What’s going on with the company?”
“It’s not doing well lately. Grandma wants to collaborate with Emgrand, but the Wilson Group is too insignificant compared to them. They wouldn’t even notice us.”
“Oh? Haven’t there been collaborations between the Wilson Group and Emgrand in the past?”
Claire laughed sarcastically. “Of course not! What do we mean to Emgrand? We’re probably just a speck of dust to them! Even Gerald’s family, Wendy’s fiancé’s family, could barely scratch the surface of Emgrand’s business empire. That’s why Grandma is so eager for them to marry soon; she thinks the White family can help us build connections with Emgrand.”
Charlie nodded, understanding the situation. The Wilson family had exhausted every option to collaborate with Emgrand Group. However, Lady Wilson would never realize that he was now the owner of Emgrand.
With this in mind, Charlie resolved to take charge of Emgrand Group and support Claire in her business endeavors. The Wilson family had treated her unfairly, and he could no longer stand by while they bullied her. As her husband, he felt it was his duty to elevate her standing within the family.
He silently vowed, “Claire, your husband has changed! I won’t let anyone disrespect you again! I will make the entire Wilson family bow before you!”
