Lady Wilson was utterly stunned.

She was in disbelief that Charlie had the audacity to persuade the White family to end their engagement with the Wilson family!

The thought of it caused her heart to ache.

Lady Wilson felt an overwhelming urge to plead with Zeke not to forsake the Wilson family. Yet, her words fell on deaf ears. After declaring the annulment of the engagement between Gerald and Wendy, Zeke turned and exited the Wilson family villa with Gerald without a backward glance.

This left Wendy completely shattered, unable to stop the tears from flowing.

Having devoted years to Gerald, she had given him everything, even enduring a pregnancy with his child. Yet, at this critical moment, he chose to abandon her!

A wave of hatred and resentment washed over her, particularly directed at her grandmother.

Meanwhile, Christopher was also engulfed in despair. He had followed the old lady’s directives in dealing with his brother’s family, yet he felt he had gained nothing from the ordeal.

His son had been severely injured and taken by the police, and his daughter had been deserted by her fiancé and his entire family. Christopher felt he had faced more losses than he could bear!

He voiced his frustrations to the old lady, saying, “Mom, I’ve always obeyed your wishes, but look at what we’ve lost! My family has nothing left!”

Taking a moment to compose herself, Lady Wilson reassured them, “Let’s not panic. There’s no need to rush. We can arrange to bail Harold out of police custody. As for Wendy’s engagement, while we can’t change the White family’s decision, we shouldn’t worry too much. Wendy is incredibly beautiful, and I’m sure many affluent young men will be eager to court her!”

Continuing, she added, “Remember, we still have our contract with Emgrand Group, and we can lean on them during this crisis. The Wilson family will emerge from this, and once we overcome this challenge, we won’t need to rely on anyone else in the future! Why would we need to depend on others if we can be exceptionally wealthy on our own?”

Christopher interrupted, “Mom, the person managing the Emgrand Group contract is that girl, Claire. Since we’ve removed her from the Wilson Group, shouldn’t we appoint someone else to oversee this project and take on the director position?”

“Absolutely! We must replace her!” the old lady responded without hesitation. “Don’t worry. I’ll ensure Harold takes over as director as soon as he’s out of police custody. He will be in charge of the project and all future dealings between our family and Emgrand Group!”

Christopher felt a wave of relief wash over him, and the glimmer of hope returned.

Despite the significant losses, the old lady’s willingness to assist him offered a sense of comfort. If Lady Wilson entrusted the project to his son, it might pave the way for a brighter future.

Lady Wilson continued, “We cannot afford any slip-ups in our dealings with Emgrand Group. When the time comes, I expect Harold to give it his all so we can secure numerous projects and collaborations!”

“Don’t worry, Mom! I’ll make sure Harold puts forth his best effort!” Christopher replied eagerly.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

A moment later, a man in a suit entered the courtyard.

“Excuse me, is Lady Wilson home?” he inquired.

Lady Wilson quickly approached him, saying, “I am Lady Wilson. How may I help you?”

The man replied, “Hello, I’m the lawyer representing Emgrand Group.”

Upon hearing this, Lady Wilson’s excitement surged. “Oh! You’re a lawyer from Emgrand Group? Please, come in!”

“No, thank you,” he replied coolly. “I’m here to deliver a letter in person.”

“A lawyer’s letter?” Lady Wilson asked, taken aback. “What do you mean?”

The lawyer responded, “This letter is to formally terminate the contract and all collaborations between Emgrand Group and Wilson Group. Following our discussions, Emgrand Group has decided to end all projects and partnerships with your family. You are required to visit Emgrand Group within the next three days to finalize the termination agreement.”

“What?!”
