Charlie shot a fierce glare at Joanne and Jerry, but he refrained from engaging with the two fools for Douglas’s sake.
Even in silence, Charlie’s lack of response only fueled Joanne and Jerry’s disdain. They ridiculed him relentlessly, viewing his inability to defend himself as a sign of weakness. What a loser!
Jerry couldn’t hold back his taunts, “Honestly, Claire must have been blind. With so many great guys in our class, she chose Charlie the loser? What a waste!”
As their insults echoed in the room, the suite’s door suddenly swung open.

A group of muscular men dressed in black stormed in, led by a young man sporting a crew cut and holding a cigarette. He coldly declared, “Get out! I need this room.”
Jerry frowned, clearly irritated. “What do you think you’re doing? Can’t you see we’re having dinner here?”
He slammed his hand down on the table, growling, “This is the Maple Hotel—first come, first serve! Are you not aware of the rules?”
“First come, first serve?”
The intimidating young man stepped closer to Jerry and, without warning, slapped him hard across the face. Jerry crumpled to the floor, his face reddened and swollen.
“Who the hell do you think you are? I’m Rambo, underling of Don Albert! Get lost!”
“Rambo?”
Jerry’s eyes widened in panic as he clutched his swollen face. Rambo was notorious in the area, a figure feared by many, despite his low rank in the grand scheme of Aurous Hill.
“I’m sorry, Rambo! We’ll leave right away!”
Rambo smirked triumphantly and shouted to the others, “What are you all waiting for? Get out, you losers!”
Loreen and Claire, taken aback by the sudden confrontation, instinctively sought refuge behind Charlie.
Charlie regarded Rambo with eyes as calm as a placid lake, but his voice was icy when he spoke. “For Albert’s sake, I’ll spare you if you leave this room right now.”
“What the hell, Charlie?! Are you out of your mind? That’s Rambo Miller!”
“We’re really sorry, Rambo! We don’t know this guy! Do whatever you want with him but please, don’t hurt us…”
Jerry and Joanne silently cursed Charlie, their teeth clenched in fear. What was he thinking? Rambo Miller was known for his ruthless reputation—a man who had taken lives before! Why was Charlie digging his own grave and putting them all in jeopardy?
Yet, amidst the chaos, Rambo paused and looked back at Charlie, trying to place him. Suddenly, his expression shifted, and he asked hesitantly, “You’re… Charlie? Charlie Wade… Mr. Wade?!”
Having served under Don Albert for a long time, Rambo had heard of Charlie before, and the name struck a chord in his memory.
Charlie replied coldly, “Is there another Charlie Wade in Aurous Hill that I should know about?”
As if thunderstruck, Rambo’s eyes widened in shock, and he dropped to his knees. “Mr. Wade, I’m so sorry! I didn’t recognize you! Please forgive me for interrupting your dinner!”
Jerry stood dumbfounded, struggling to comprehend the rapid shift in the situation. “Rambo, there must be a misunderstanding. Yes, his name is Charlie Wade, but he’s just some deadbeat loser! You don’t need to treat him so formally!”
Color drained from Rambo’s face at such an offensive remark. He kicked Jerry to the ground, shouting, “Shut your mouth! How dare you insult Mr. Wade! I’ll take you down today!”
