He found refuge in a quaint café, where he ordered some snacks and settled in to enjoy his free time until evening.
This bustling spot was located on a well-known gourmet street in Aurous Hill, teeming with people.
As Charlie relished his meal, his attention was suddenly drawn to two figures across the street, one of whom looked strikingly familiar.
Could it be Claire?
He spotted Claire seated by a grand window on the second floor of an upscale restaurant. Opposite her was a middle-aged man dressed in a suit and polished leather shoes, sporting gold-framed glasses.
Claire was animatedly holding a folder, chatting away as if she were showcasing her portfolio and her new venture as a freelance designer, hoping the man would consider investing in her new project.
Despite her enthusiasm, the man appeared disinterested in what she was saying. He even attempted to grab Claire’s hand while reaching for the folder, but she instinctively pulled it back just in time.

If you decide to partner with me, I assure you that I’ll deliver exceptional project planning.”
“Miss Wilson, I recognize your talents and have faith in you,” Mr. Murray replied, offering a stiff smile. “However, we have recently invested significantly in various projects, and our capital is currently quite limited.”
Claire felt a twinge of disappointment. She had dedicated the entire morning to presenting her portfolio, but his responses had been ambiguous, leaving her puzzled.
Noticing her downcast expression, Mr. Murray rubbed his hands together and said, “Actually, this isn’t a dead end just yet. Let me consult with the senior executives first. To be honest, your portfolio is quite intriguing. Why don’t we continue our discussion at 8 tonight? I’d love to learn more about your work.”
“Um, Mr. Murray, that’s rather late…” Claire hesitated.
Meeting at 8 PM would be pushing it, and there was a chance their conversation could stretch well past midnight, which wouldn’t reflect well on her reputation as someone’s wife.
The man smiled. “No, it’s not too late. Investment matters require thorough understanding and mutual trust, wouldn’t you agree? I’ll treat you to a lovely dinner tonight, and we can carry on our discussion. Come, Miss Wilson, let’s shake hands for our future collaboration.”
He extended his hand toward Claire’s, a subtle flirtatious glint in his eyes.
