When Claire confronted her, Elaine, Charlie’s mother-in-law, lost her temper. “You are still part of the Wilson family, no matter what! Your grandmother has already apologized to me and acknowledged that she acted out of confusion. She said Harold was the one who stirred the trouble, and she has punished him severely. What more do you want?”

Claire retorted angrily, “What does their apology even mean? I know my grandmother well. Even if she apologized, I can tell it’s not sincere! She’s only doing it because she wants me to return to the Wilson Group and resolve the issues with Emgrand Group!”

Elaine attempted to reason with Claire, “Don’t have such a negative view of your grandmother! We’re still family! How can you hold a grudge for so long?”

Claire shot back, “I don’t consider myself related to anyone in the Wilson family!” She added vehemently, “I will never go back to the Wilson Group!”

Elaine expressed her dissatisfaction, “What do you mean? Your grandmother has recognized her mistakes. Do you really want an elderly woman to apologize to you?”

Elaine continued, “To prove her sincerity, your grandmother even gave me a gold necklace and two jade bracelets…”

Claire interrupted, “Mom, just admit that the only reason you want me back at the Wilson Group is because you’re after the jewelry Grandma gave you!”

Frustrated, Claire dismissed Elaine and walked straight to her bedroom. Charlie followed her silently.

In the living room, Elaine began to vent, “Look at your daughter!”

Surprisingly, Jacob ignored her and walked away.

Once in the bedroom, Claire expressed her frustration to Charlie. “I can’t believe the Wilson family thinks they can win over my mother with jewelry. Doesn’t she realize that as soon as they dangle some nice things in front of her, she forgets how they treated us before?”

Charlie, though also unhappy, refrained from criticizing his mother-in-law. He said, “When we had our fallout with the Wilson family, your mother wasn’t with us. She doesn’t understand how despicable they can be.”

Claire quickly asked, “What should I do if my mother insists I return to the Wilson Group?”

Charlie replied, “You need to think about what you truly want and make your own decision. I will support whatever you choose.”

Claire nodded, determination in her voice. “I agree! I want to start my own business and succeed on my own merits!”

Charlie smiled, replying, “That sounds like a fantastic plan. Launching your own business and advancing in your career would be wonderful!”

As they continued their conversation, Charlie considered inviting Graham from the Quinton family, Isaac from Shangri-La, mob boss Albert, Jasmine from the Moore family, and Zeke from the White family for a meal to introduce Claire. He wanted them to keep an eye out for her once she started her own business.

While he was lost in thought, Charlie received a phone call from Jasmine. She greeted him respectfully, “Mr. Wade, it’s Jasmine. Are you busy right now?”

Charlie responded, “No, Miss Moore. What’s up?”

Jasmine replied quickly, “My grandfather has been unwell lately, and we can’t figure out what’s wrong. Could you find some time to visit our house and take a look at him?”

She added, “Rest assured, we will compensate you generously for your consultation.”

Charlie pondered for a moment. Jasmine was the eldest daughter of one of Aurous Hill’s most distinguished families. Since he might need her assistance for Claire’s future business endeavors, he agreed without hesitation. “Alright, I’ll come over tonight.”

Jasmine responded gratefully, “Thank you! I’ll pick you up tonight.”

After hanging up, Charlie turned to Claire and said, “I’ll be out with a friend tonight and won’t be home for dinner.”

Claire nodded, not asking for details. However, she cautioned him, “Just make sure you don’t give anyone Feng Shui advice when you’re out. Otherwise, you might get into trouble if they accuse you of lying.”

Charlie smiled and reassured her, “Don’t worry, Claire. I know what I’m doing.”
