Charlie couldn’t help but laugh after hearing Jasmine’s response. “It sounds like you’re not keen on adhering to the Moore family’s rules.”

Jasmine nodded and replied, “You’re right. I really don’t want to be tied down by the Moore family’s regulations, but I feel trapped.”

“Why is that?” Charlie asked, his tone turning serious. “I believe your grandfather might reconsider his stance after this scare with his health. You were the one who saved his life, allowing him to enjoy a few more healthy years. If he truly appreciates what you’ve done, this could be your chance to ask him for the freedom to choose who you want to marry. I’m sure he’d be inclined to let you pick your own husband.”

Jasmine gave a bitter smile and shook her head. “That’s just not possible. Even if Grandpa loves me and feels sympathy for my situation, he would never agree to that.”

“Why not?” Charlie asked, confused. “Isn’t your grandfather the head of the Moore family? He’s in charge of everything, and his decisions are final. What could he possibly fear?”

Jasmine responded seriously, “The Moore family has built its reputation over many years, and all its members are bound by established rules. As long as everyone follows these guidelines, the family remains united and strong. If one person is allowed to break the rules, it could lead to the family’s downfall, with no one willing to follow the rules anymore.”

She continued, “The Moore family has faced countless challenges to become the powerful and wealthy entity it is today. Our strength lies in our commitment to the family’s best interests, and no one has ever deviated from the rules.”

Charlie sighed and remarked, “Jasmine, I always thought of you as a strong and powerful woman. I never imagined you would feel so constrained by others.”

“That’s true,” Jasmine sighed. “As long as I’m part of the Moore family, there’s no escape from this situation.”

As she reflected on this, Jasmine shook her head, raised her wine glass, and said, “Mr. Wade, let’s stop discussing these unhappy topics. Cheers! I’ll toast you again!”

Charlie smiled, lifting his glass in response. “Alright then. Here’s to celebrating freedom!”

Jasmine was momentarily taken aback.

After that sip of wine, Jasmine began to feel the effects of alcohol. She gazed at Charlie and sighed, “Do you know how many times I wished I had been born into a normal family? Life would be so much easier that way. I wouldn’t have to deal with so many rules and restrictions, and I think I’d be happier. Even though I have a prestigious position and wealth from my family, I rarely experience true happiness.”

Charlie offered a slight smile and said, “You might be surprised to learn that many ordinary people envy those who are rich like you. They don’t have to stress about finances or making ends meet. Haven’t you heard the saying that it’s better to cry in a BMW than to laugh on a bicycle? You might think an ordinary life would bring you happiness, but that’s precisely what many are trying to escape! Isn’t the pursuit of wealth what drives everyone to work hard?”

At that moment, Jasmine looked at Charlie intently and said, “Mr. Wade, it seems like you don’t care about money at all! You didn’t even bat an eye at the twenty million dollars they offered you earlier. You could have made a fortune selling those pills for ten million each, yet you chose to give them away for free. Why does it seem like money holds no value for you?”

Charlie smiled casually, thinking to himself that he didn’t care about money because he wasn’t in need of it.

However, Jasmine was unaware of the times he had desperately needed money in the past.
