The Amazing son in law Chapter 256
If that were the case, she would never have had the chance to live in the villa that Zeke had gifted to Charlie after the renovations were finished.
Elaine quickly relented when she considered this.
With a sigh, she finally said, “Alright, I’ll choose to support you. I won’t bring up the Wilson Group again, okay?”
Claire felt a sense of satisfaction and nodded in agreement, saying, “Okay then, we won’t move out.”
Charlie couldn’t help but give Claire a thumbs up as he watched her stand her ground against her mother.
His wife was truly impressive. Although it wasn’t always obvious, Claire had a remarkable ability to handle critical situations with effectiveness.
Jacob had remained silent until now, but seeing his daughter, who rarely showed anger, finally lose her cool prompted him to intervene. “Why are you two fighting? Isn’t it better for the family to be harmonious and happy?” he asked.
Elaine shot Jacob a sharp glare and retorted, “You didn’t say a word until now, and suddenly you have so much to say? Charlie may not be perfect, but he got us a villa and a new place to live. What have you done for this family? You just spend your time playing with antiques! You’re the least useful person here!”
“Hey!” Jacob exclaimed, feeling frustrated by Elaine’s accusations. He quickly added, “Elaine! Don’t you dare look down on me! Have you forgotten how I made a few hundred thousand dollars selling medicine?”
Elaine regarded Jacob with disdain and replied, “If you get arrested for fraud, don’t expect me to bail you out!”
“You’re really something!” Jacob shouted in anger. “Can’t you stop belittling others? I have a talent for investing in antiques!”
In a huff, Jacob stormed to his bedroom and emerged with a pen holder, boasting, “Look! I’ll show you what I found today! This piece is worth at least a few hundred thousand dollars!”
Elaine scoffed, “When are you going to wake up and face the truth? Do you really believe it’s that easy to fool others? Not everyone is as gullible as you!”
Jacob stomped his foot in frustration, saying, “Don’t belittle others if you don’t understand antiques! This pen holder is from the Qing Dynasty, and I only spent five thousand dollars on it. I’ve even sent a picture to Zachary, and he’s willing to pay three hundred thousand dollars for it!”
Charlie glanced at the pen holder in Jacob’s hand, genuinely surprised. If it was indeed from the Qing Dynasty, it could be worth a significant amount. However, with just one look, he could tell that the pen holder was clearly modern craftsmanship, likely worth no more than a hundred dollars.
It seemed the seller had taken Jacob for a fool when he sold the pen holder for five thousand dollars.
Charlie understood how easily Jacob could be deceived. However, he found himself questioning why Zachary, an antiques dealer, would offer Jacob three hundred thousand dollars for this pen holder. Zachary was known for seeking out cheap deals and then trying to rip off his customers. Given that this pen holder was obviously a fake, why would he be willing to pay so much instead of simply offering Jacob a hundred dollars for it?
