When Jacob made his announcement, everyone around him wore expressions of disbelief.

Elaine, taken aback, exclaimed, “Are you seriously telling me that someone is willing to pay three hundred thousand dollars for this shabby item? I doubt you could even get fifty bucks for it!”

With a triumphant grin, Jacob responded, “Why would I lie to you? If you don’t believe me, just check my message history!”

At that moment, Jacob pulled out his phone, opened his text messages, and played a voice note from someone named Zachary.

Zachary’s voice came through clearly. “Uncle Jacob, you have a fantastic pen holder! I genuinely believe it’s from the Qing Dynasty! Why not sell it to me instead? I’ll offer you three hundred thousand dollars for it!”

Elaine’s surprise was palpable as she exclaimed, “Oh my goodness! You were telling the truth! Jacob, you’re amazing! You bought the pen holder for five thousand dollars and sold it for three hundred thousand! If you keep this up, we might just become wealthy!”

Jacob chuckled and asked, “So, are you convinced now? Do you believe me?”

“Absolutely!” Elaine replied without hesitation. As someone who had always admired wealth, she fully supported anyone who had it. Hearing that Jacob had sold the pen holder for such a large sum made her quickly forget her earlier skepticism. She smiled and remarked, “My husband is truly incredible! I can’t believe you have such talent in antique trading! It looks like Charlie is still the least impressive one in this family.”

Charlie’s expression shifted immediately. What did he have to do with this? Had Jacob already forgotten that he was the one who had created the herbal pills that sold successfully last time?

At that moment, Charlie realized he needed to find out who Zachary was selling the pen holder to. What Zachary was doing seemed like giving his father-in-law money without any strings attached!

With excitement, Jacob handed the pen holder to Charlie and said, “Charlie, please take this to Antique Street tomorrow and give it to Zachary. He said he’ll have three hundred thousand dollars in cash ready for you, and you can bring the money back for me.”

Charlie nodded eagerly. “Sure thing, Dad.”

Jacob was pleased and continued, “Charlie, you should join me for more antique trades and events in the future. If you keep following me, you might develop an eye for antiques like I have. Then we can make a fortune together! What do you think?”

Charlie could only agree verbally, but inside, he was thinking about all the trouble Jacob had caused him in the past. How could Jacob have the confidence to ask him to learn from him? Didn’t he remember the antique vase he broke at Vintage Deluxe? If Charlie hadn’t been there to help fix it, Jacob could have ended up in jail! How would he ever be able to pay for that ruined vase?

However, reflecting on it, Charlie saw that his father-in-law was just like a child—eager to pursue what made him happy.

The following morning, Jacob called Charlie with excitement. “Charlie, can you go find Zachary? I want you to deliver the pen holder to him as soon as possible so you can collect my money!”

Charlie nodded and asked, “Dad, aren’t you coming with me?”

Jacob replied, “I’m attending an event organized by the Calligraphy and Painting Association today. They’ve invited me to the meeting and a conference! After the conference, I’m sure I’ll get invited to many exclusive auctions for paintings and calligraphy!”

Charlie sighed, “Alright, I’ll head to Antique Street to find Zachary then.”

Since Jacob had given him the task, Charlie made his way to Antique Street to look for Zachary.

Claire was also on a break from work and, feeling bored, said to Charlie, “I’ll go with you.”

Charlie agreed, “Okay, let’s take your car.”

Claire replied, “I’m tired and don’t feel like driving today. You can drive instead.”
