Claire swung open the car door and hurried out, clutching an umbrella tightly in her hand.

Charlie quickly followed her as soon as he noticed her exit from the vehicle.

“What’s going on, Loreen?”

Claire called out, rushing toward Loreen.

“Claire? What are you doing here?” Loreen exclaimed, visibly shaken and drenched from the pouring rain.

She appeared both surprised and embarrassed, clearly not wanting her best friend to see her in such a disheveled state.

Claire sheltered Loreen with the umbrella and replied, “I happened to be passing by with Charlie when I spotted you by the roadside. What’s wrong?”

Loreen, her annoyance evident, responded, “Let’s not dwell on it! My company sent me out on an errand today and provided me a car for the job. I was on my way to meet a customer when I discovered that I had two punctured tyres! I’m so frustrated right now!”

Charlie felt a bit confused.

A flat tyre while driving was a common occurrence.

Typically, a flat tyre results from sharp objects like nails or metal shards piercing it, so it was unusual for two tyres to be punctured simultaneously.

Feeling concerned, Charlie advised Loreen, “The rain is getting heavier. It’s not safe for you to wait out here alone. I think it’s best to leave your car and ride back to the city with us. We can call for help to fix your car once the rain lets up.”

Loreen nodded, letting out a sigh. “I suppose that’s my best option right now.”

As Charlie guided them back to the car, he suddenly heard a swift sound slicing through the rain.

In that moment, he saw a silver light shooting through the stormy sky!

And it was headed straight for Loreen!

Without a second thought, Charlie reached out and pulled Loreen into his arms.

Simultaneously, a loud crash echoed as a sharp dagger embedded itself into the front hood of the black Mercedes-Benz!

The dagger, as slender as a willow leaf, gleamed with sharpness.

Even though the car’s hood was made of sturdy metal, the dagger sliced through it effortlessly, as if it were mere tofu!

Everyone fell silent, their gaze fixated on the airborne dagger.

Luckily, Charlie had managed to pull Loreen away just in time; otherwise, the dagger would have struck her forehead directly. Although he saved her, the blade grazed her cheek, cutting off a few strands of her hair. It was a close call!

Loreen came from an influential and affluent family, and despite having faced many challenges in her life, she couldn’t suppress a scream as the reality of the situation dawned on her.

Just then, two more daggers hurtled towards them, and Charlie tightened his grip on Loreen, skillfully evading the deadly projectiles.

These flying blades were incredibly swift, and without his training from the Apocalyptic Book, Charlie wouldn’t have been able to protect Loreen or himself!

Loreen was in utter shock!

To her surprise, someone in Aurous Hill was clearly trying to kill her!

Even more astonishing was the fact that Charlie had saved her not once, but twice!

Holding Loreen firmly, Charlie gazed into the downpour.

Not too far away, he spotted an off-road vehicle parked nearby. A figure inside stared at him, expressionless, seemingly stunned that Charlie had thwarted the attack on Loreen.

“Who do you think you are? How dare you disrupt my brother’s plans?”

At that moment, two men emerged from the off-road vehicle, their faces filled with a menacing intent as they approached Charlie.
