The Amazing son in law Chapter 31

Elaine sat on the floor, her body shaking uncontrollably. She squeezed her eyes shut, bracing herself for the blow she expected from the muscular man looming over her. But when the slap didn’t come, she opened her eyes in bewilderment. To her astonishment, Charlie, her seemingly worthless son-in-law, had stepped in and was gripping the man’s wrist! At that moment, Elaine felt utterly disoriented; she couldn’t wrap her head around what was happening. Why was Charlie suddenly showing such courage?

Don Albert was equally taken aback. Who dared to defend this old woman in such a tense situation? He snarled, “Who are you? Do you have a death wish?”

Charlie responded with a faint smile, “You’re Don Albert, right? You can beat up anyone you want, but please, don’t lay a finger on my mother-in-law!”

A shadow of anger crossed Albert’s face. “This old woman is your mother-in-law? And who do you think you are, asking me for favors?”

Fury bubbled within Albert as he spoke. He was a figure of high regard in Aurous Hill, yet today he faced immense humiliation. First, an impertinent man named Kevin White had shouted at him, then an old geezer joined in. And now, this young man appeared out of nowhere, making absurd demands! Did they really believe that Don Albert Rhodes could be treated like a mere puppet?

His face reddened with rage, and he bellowed to his men, “Beat this arrogant fool to a pulp!”

Charlie maintained his calm demeanor, replying, “Not so fast. Let me make a quick call first; I want him to hear what I have to say.”

He pulled out his phone and dialed Isaac Cameron, the general manager of Shangri-La.

When the call connected, Isaac answered respectfully, “Young Master, how can I assist you?”

Charlie replied nonchalantly, “Are you familiar with a man named Albert Rhodes, also known as Don Albert?”

Isaac chuckled lightly, “Of course, I know him. People claim he’s the boss of the underworld, but to me, he’s just a small-time gangster.”

He continued, “He’s been trying to win me over since he found out I work for the Wade family, asking me out for dinners and such, but I’ve been ignoring him. Why? Do you know him?”

Charlie answered casually, “Oh, I see. Well, he’s trying to kill me.”

Isaac’s reaction was immediate; a loud thud echoed through the phone. “Damn it! That bastard! He’s asking for trouble by messing with you! Where are you? I’ll send someone over right away to handle him!”

“I’ll let him speak to you. Hold on,” Charlie said, passing the phone to Albert. “Here, take it.”

Albert took the phone, his brow furrowed in confusion. What was happening? Charlie didn’t seem to be acting; he appeared genuine. Did he really have an impressive background that Albert was unaware of? Looking Charlie up and down, Albert noticed that his clothes weren’t designer, and he seemed to be dressed in something that didn’t even cost five hundred dollars. Even his phone looked cheap. What kind of support could this man possibly have?

Despite his skepticism, Albert took the phone and asked cautiously, “Hi, I’m Don Albert. Who are you? How dare you defend this man?”

Isaac’s voice exploded through the receiver. “Albert Rhodes! You lunatic, are you out of your mind? How dare you provoke my young master! Believe me when I say, I will bury your entire family alive tonight!”
