Charlie shot Kevin a frosty glare and muttered, “I have no issues with you, nor any ties to you. Yet, you’ve spent all this time mocking and provoking me, and now you expect my help? Not a chance!”

Kevin fell to the ground, sobbing, “Charlie, I’m genuinely sorry! Please, you have to help me…”

Noticing the displeasure on Charlie’s face, Albert yelled to his men, “What the hell are you doing? Get a hold of him right now!”

Startled, Albert’s bodyguards quickly seized Kevin by the neck and hair, launching a brutal assault on him. Blood soon poured from Kevin’s mouth, and a few of his teeth were knocked out, but Albert’s men showed no signs of stopping. Each slap aimed at Kevin’s face was swift and merciless!

Turning to Charlie with a sycophantic grin, Albert asked, “Mr. Wade, are you pleased with our efforts?” Charlie nodded indifferently, “Very good. Now, I need to be on my way.”

Albert respectfully handed Charlie his business card, saying, “Mr. Wade, here’s my number. Don’t hesitate to call if you need anything; I’ll always be available.”

Charlie gave a slight nod and tucked the card into his pocket. He then turned to Elaine, saying, “Mom, it’s getting late. Let’s head home!”

Even though Elaine’s cheeks still stung from earlier slaps, she couldn’t help but smile as she looked at the suitcase, thinking about the seven hundred thousand dollars she had just earned! Her pride swelled as she glanced at her son-in-law—he was truly remarkable!

As Charlie picked up the suitcase and prepared to leave with Elaine, a group of seniors stepped in front of him, speaking earnestly, “Charlie, it was my mistake to underestimate you. I had no idea how powerful you are; you’re such an impressive young man!”

“Exactly! Charlie, you’re so smart and handsome—you’re the role model for the youth today. My son-in-law can’t even compare to you.”

“If it’s not too much trouble, could you assist us in negotiating with Mr. Jordan to get our money back? It’s our hard-earned cash!”

Charlie frowned, irritation evident in his voice as he replied coldly, “Why would I help you? You were all so arrogant just a moment ago. If you can’t retrieve your money today, why not ask your own son-in-law for assistance?” With that, he turned away and left, leaving the seniors sighing in disappointment, regretting their earlier behavior towards Charlie.

Great… their only chance of recovering their money had just vanished. As they contemplated this, some slapped themselves in frustration, others crouched in disbelief, and a few rolled on the ground, wailing in despair. All their money was gone! Yet, they had only their own foolishness to blame, along with their lack of an exceptional son-in-law like Charlie.

On the drive home, Elaine, with a coy smile, asked Charlie, “Charlie, how do you know Don Albert? Why does he treat you so respectfully?”

Charlie responded casually, “I don’t know him at all. Who am I to be acquainted with someone like him? I simply called a friend who had enough influence to make Axel return the money.”

Elaine felt a twinge of disappointment upon hearing this. She had imagined that Charlie wielded some extraordinary power she was unaware of, but it turned out he had just called someone for help. This revelation dimmed the excitement she had felt earlier. However, she was relieved to have her money back, along with an extra seven hundred thousand dollars, which somewhat improved her perception of Charlie.

She added, “Charlie, I hope you can keep today’s events a secret and not tell anyone. I may be older, but I still have my dignity, okay?”

Charlie offered a weak smile and nodded in agreement. “Alright, Mom, I understand.”
