The Amazing son in law Chapter 54
Charlie’s BMW 520 was equipped with just 184 horsepower, while Clinton’s BMW 540 boasted a robust 340 horsepower. Logic suggested that Clinton’s car should be significantly faster and more powerful than Charlie’s. So how was it possible for Charlie to overtake him so effortlessly?
The spectators were equally baffled!
None of them expected Charlie, who many had assumed would be defeated, to zoom past Clinton like an arrow shot from a bow! In a matter of seconds, Charlie’s car surged ahead, leaving Clinton far behind!
By the time Clinton reached the halfway point, Charlie had already turned around at the intersection at the end of the road!
When Clinton finally reached that same intersection, he was stunned to see Charlie back at the starting line!

Charlie had emerged victorious!
And it was a resounding triumph!
As Clinton turned around, he caught sight of Charlie celebrating at the finish line with Claire, and he nearly fainted!
What on earth was happening?
How could the BMW 520 outperform the 540 so dramatically?
No way! That guy must have modified his car!
How dare he use a modified vehicle to outsmart him? Unbelievable!
As he parked his car and stormed out, seething with anger, he confronted Charlie: “You modified your car, didn’t you? That’s why it’s so powerful! You cheated me! This race is null and void!”
Charlie smirked and replied, “Come on, Clinton! Didn’t you say that skill and courage outweigh the car’s specifications? Now that you’ve lost, are you going to go back on your own words?”
“No, I’m not!” Panic flickered in Clinton’s eyes as he scrambled for an excuse. “You cheated, it’s unfair!”
Loreen shot him a disdainful look and chimed in, “Clinton, you’re going back on your promise, you pathetic loser! Remember what you said? Whoever breaks the bet will face dire consequences!”
“Exactly!” murmured the crowd, who had been anticipating Charlie’s defeat but were now irritated by Clinton’s blatant disregard for his own words. They recognized him as a sore loser unwilling to honor a bet he had instigated!
Someone shouted, “Clinton, you’re such a coward! Everyone here witnessed you challenge Charlie to this race. You even claimed that engine power didn’t matter and made that outrageous bet about consequences. Now you want to renege? Are you saying you won’t honor your bet even if your family’s life is at stake?”
“Yeah!” a girl added, “We always thought you were brave and responsible, but now we see you’re just a coward who can’t keep his word!”
Another voice piped up, “Now it’s clear what kind of person you are! Just a double standard loser! If Charlie had lost, you wouldn’t have let him off the hook! But now that you’ve lost, you’re making excuses. Pathetic!”
Clinton’s face turned a mix of green and red, his anger boiling. He had just bought that car for over seven hundred thousand dollars less than a month ago! The thought of igniting the fireworks inside it was unbearable!
This car was his prized possession! Normally, he wouldn’t tolerate even the slightest scratch or speck of dust on it—why would he willingly destroy it?
But the disdain from his friends was palpable. If he continued this charade, they would distance themselves from him and spread rumors about his dishonorable actions and broken promises.
His mind raced with the potential fallout.
If he didn’t set off the fireworks, he would be ridiculed!
Suddenly, Charlie broke the tension. “Clinton, we’re all friends here. Some jokes aren’t meant to be taken seriously. Since your car is so valuable, why don’t we just forget about it?”
Clinton felt a wave of relief wash over him.
However, the crowd began to murmur, “Wow, Charlie is such a gentleman! Clinton is the real jerk here!”
“Absolutely! Charlie is being gracious while Clinton is just a poor loser!”
These comments ignited a fire within Clinton. “Who says I’m a sore loser? Where are the fireworks? I’ll honor my bet right here for everyone to see!” he declared defiantly.
Charlie couldn’t help but smile slyly.
