Charlie, Claire, and Loreen were seated together at a table, enjoying each other’s company when Clinton arrived and took a seat next to Loreen.

With an enthusiastic grin, he asked Loreen, “Hey, Loreen, I heard you recently started working for Emgrand Group in Aurous Hill. Is that true?”

Loreen confirmed with a nod, “Yes, I just started.”

Clinton’s smile grew even wider. “What a coincidence! My dad is the deputy general manager of a department at Emgrand! I can ask him to look out for you at work.”

The table erupted in surprise, with several voices exclaiming, “Wow, Clinton, your dad is the deputy general manager of Emgrand Group?”

“Yep!” Clinton replied proudly. “He got promoted last year.”

Someone chimed in with admiration, “A deputy general manager must earn several million dollars a year, right? That’s incredible! No wonder your family is so wealthy!”

Clinton chuckled and added, “That’s just his salary. He has significant authority and various side incomes. You’ve all heard about Emgrand Group’s luxurious hotel project, right? Once that wraps up, my dad could make between ten to twenty million.”

A guy sitting across from him quickly interjected, “Clinton, I really want to join Emgrand Group, but I haven’t heard back after applying several times. Could you please speak to your dad about possibly giving me an internal recommendation?”

Clinton casually nodded, “Sure! Send me your resume, and I’ll have a word with him.”

Charlie couldn’t help but frown. He was surprised to learn about Clinton’s father’s high position at Emgrand Group.

This was becoming more intriguing. He planned to send Doris a message later about firing Clinton’s father.

Charlie then asked, “Clinton, given your father’s position, why doesn’t he help you get in?”

Clinton sneered, “What do you know, loser? If I joined Emgrand Group, people would constantly be watching me because of my dad. That would be no fun.”

He then leaned back with a smug expression, “So, I never considered joining. I run a company that supplies building materials, and I can secure deals with Emgrand through my dad.”

“Wow!” someone exclaimed. “You must be making a fortune then!”

Clinton scoffed, “Nah, it’s nothing major, maybe a few million a year.”

Turning to Charlie, he asked in a condescending tone, “So, Charlie, what do you do for a living? Don’t tell me you’ve been just doing housework since you ‘married’ Claire?”

The table burst into laughter at his comment.

Charlie shrugged and replied nonchalantly, “Yes, in addition to laundry and cooking, I also drive my wife to work and give her massages every day. It’s quite enjoyable.”

Clinton felt a surge of anger. How could this shameless guy be so casual and proud about it?

He gritted his teeth and shot back, “I didn’t realize you were such a happy freeloader, Charlie!”

“So what?” Charlie replied confidently. “I haven’t stolen or robbed anyone. I contribute by doing household chores; why shouldn’t I be happy about it?”

A sudden hush fell over the table as everyone was taken aback. They had never encountered such a bold person before!

The irony was that they were envious of him!

After all, Claire was stunning and elegant—a dream for many to be able to rely on such a goddess-like woman!

Jealousy and resentment filled the air!

Why should being a stay-at-home husband be frowned upon if it meant being with someone as beautiful as Claire? It could even be seen as a success!

Clinton nearly choked on his drink at Charlie’s response.

Just then, Lily, Douglas’s fiancée, took the stage, expressing her gratitude with a warm smile. “I’m thrilled to see all of you here to celebrate our grand opening today, and I appreciate the thoughtful gifts you’ve brought. Both Douglas and I are truly touched and grateful. To show our appreciation, we’re excited to announce the details of the gifts!”

It was customary to share the pricing information of the gifts during such an opening ceremony.
