Claire’s announcement sent a ripple of shock through the room, leaving everyone gasping in disbelief! Many thought Claire had lost her mind! This was the worst possible moment to step into the spotlight! The chances of her succeeding were slim to none. Emgrand Group was the largest company in Aurous Hill, and the Wilson family was merely a tiny blip on their radar! Anyone who dared to take on this challenge was destined for failure!
Harold couldn’t resist mocking her, “Claire, do you really believe you can secure a deal with Emgrand Group?”
Wendy chimed in with a similar tone, “Claire, who do you think you are? What do you imagine Emgrand Group is? Your reckless behavior will only bring shame to our family!”
Another voice echoed, “Wendy’s right! If Claire gets rejected by Emgrand Group, our family will become a laughingstock in Aurous Hill!”
Claire felt a rush of blood to her face, her cheeks burning with embarrassment. Since marrying Charlie, her standing in the family had drastically diminished. Not only did her relatives overlook her, but they also mocked her parents. She believed that if she could secure a deal with Emgrand Group, it would help her regain her position in the family.

More importantly, she wanted her parents to hold their heads high and feel proud of their identity. However, under the weight of their sarcastic remarks and scorn, she began to doubt her ambitious idea.
She shot an annoyed glance at Charlie. How had he convinced her to entertain such a ridiculous notion? She regretted suggesting it at all… Lady Wilson was visibly furious as she listened to the audience’s jeers. No one dared to take up the challenge after she had asked several times. Now, with Claire boldly stepping forward, the crowd had turned to ridicule!
Lady Wilson had always held a disdain for Claire, but in this moment, she appreciated Claire’s willingness to tackle the impossible, unlike the other family members who only brought her grief! Especially Harold, her favorite grandson, who had turned out to be quite the disappointment!
Because of this, Lady Wilson’s perspective on Claire shifted significantly. She declared, “Enough of this nonsense, you cowards! I’m assigning the task of securing a deal with Emgrand Group to Claire!”
With a hint of hesitation, Claire murmured, “Don’t worry, Grandma, I’ll give it my best shot.”
Harold let out a derisive snort, “You give it your best, and what next? You’ll just end up embarrassing us when you fail!”
Charlie interjected mockingly, “Harold Wilson, why do you keep belittling Claire? Do you think the Wilson family is beneath Emgrand Group?”
Harold was taken aback that Charlie dared to speak up during the family meeting, especially in such a bold manner.
Noticing Lady Wilson’s rising irritation, he quickly clarified, “No, that’s not what I meant! I just think it’s unrealistic for Claire to secure a deal! That’s all!”
Charlie chuckled and asked, “What if she actually succeeds? How about we make a wager?”
Harold grinned slyly. “Alright, let’s bet! You think I’m intimidated by your little challenge?”
“What are the terms? Let’s hear it,” he added.
Charlie proposed, “If Claire succeeds, you will kneel before me and admit you were wrong in front of everyone. If she fails, I will kneel before you and concede that I was wrong. What do you say?”
“Hahaha!” Harold burst into laughter. “You’re really digging your own grave, loser! Alright, I’ll take that bet!”
Charlie nodded with satisfaction, declaring, “Everyone here is a witness. Whoever backs out of the bet will face dire consequences!” He emphasized ‘consequences’ loudly, ensuring Harold wouldn’t backtrack after losing.
Harold wouldn’t dare go back on his word after such a statement. To do so would mean cursing his grandmother, Lady Wilson, and he knew she wouldn’t let him off the hook easily!
“Alright!” Harold thought he had the upper hand, but little did he know that he was walking straight into Charlie’s trap. He laughed triumphantly, “Everyone, you’ll be my witnesses! I can’t wait to see you kneel before me!”
Claire was taken aback by the entire situation, desperately signaling Charlie with her eyes, but he ignored her pleas.
Lady Wilson was unconcerned with the wager; her main focus was whether the Wilson Group could secure a spot on Emgrand Group’s collaboration list. If the deal went through, she wouldn’t mind if Harold called Charlie “Daddy,” let alone grovel before him.
Thus, she concluded calmly, “That’s enough for today. Claire, you have three days to negotiate and finalize the deal. Meeting adjourned!”

Upon returning home, Claire’s parents were furious with the young couple. Claire’s mother, Elaine Wilson, paced the living room anxiously, exclaiming, “Claire, you’ve lost your mind! How could you listen to that loser and take on this task without thinking it through?”
Her father, Jacob Wilson, turned to Charlie with anger, saying, “Charlie, you hopeless loser! You’ve thrown my darling daughter into a pit this time!”
His face turned red as he continued, “If Claire fails, she’ll be ostracized by the family, and you! You’ll have to bow to Harold like a peasant in front of everyone! My dignity will be shattered!”
Charlie responded earnestly, “Dad, Mom, everything will be fine if Claire successfully negotiates and secures the deal, right?”
“Negotiate my foot!” Jacob growled angrily. “Do you even realize how powerful Emgrand Group is? They won’t even glance at the mediocre Wilson family!”
Charlie smiled confidently, “Perhaps someone will take notice of us; you never know. Honestly, I believe in Claire. I think she’ll secure the deal with ease.”
Elaine sneered derisively. “You think so? Who do you think you are? Do you believe you have any pull with Emgrand Group? You’re nothing but a loser, a nobody. How dare you be so naïve and overconfident?”
