“Concerts…” Elaine replied, her voice laced with disappointment. “I really can’t stand those loud events; the noise gives me a headache.”
Quickly, Elaine proposed, “What if I come with you? We could shop together during the day, and I can just relax at the hotel while you enjoy the concert.”
Then, a thought occurred to her. “Since Loreen is alone, wouldn’t she need a roommate? We could book a twin room—Loreen and I in one, while you and Charlie Wade take the other. It would help us save on hotel costs.”
Claire sighed, “Mom, this trip was organized by Loreen, and I’m not certain how she’d feel about me bringing you along. Plus, who wouldn’t prefer their own space while traveling? Sharing rooms can be inconvenient.”
She continued, “And our stay will be short. We’ll fly in the day before the concert and head back the very next day. Our schedule is so tight that we won’t have time for anything else.”
Elaine frowned, feeling a bit frustrated. “That sounds rather dull. Traveling should be about relaxation and enjoyment. I don’t want to feel like I’m hurrying around like a soldier on a mission.”
Noticing her mother’s disappointment, Claire tried to reassure her. “You’re right, Mom. The itinerary is too packed. If you really want to visit Japan, I promise to take you to see the cherry blossoms next spring.”
“Oh, that sounds lovely!” Elaine exclaimed, her mood lifting. She felt content with not joining the Tokyo trip after all.
Meanwhile, Charlie Wade was never particularly fond of concerts. He found himself tolerating them, having only attended Stefanie Sun’s concert in the past. While Tawana, the American singer, was incredibly popular—arguably even more than Stefanie—Charlie Wade wasn’t particularly interested. Nevertheless, since his wife was excited about the concert and traveling with Loreen, he felt it was his duty to accompany her for peace of mind. Thus, he reluctantly agreed.
He booked a flight from Aurous Hill to Tokyo for noon the day after tomorrow, along with a room at the Aman Hotel in Tokyo, which coincidentally was the same hotel where Zara Banks and Fitz had been kidnapped.
With his departure set for the day after tomorrow, Charlie Wade drove to the Champs Elysees Spa Hotel early the next morning, primarily to see Yun Ruge, who had been staying there.
