Claire asked cautiously, “Loreen, is your Japanese friend a man or a woman?”

“Of course it’s a woman,” Loreen reassured her. “Don’t worry, I won’t take you to dinner with some random single guy.”

With a smile, she turned back to Charlie Wade and said, “Charlie, I’ll take care of Claire tonight. You can go to the competition on your own, and we’ll catch up when we’re back at the hotel.”

Relieved that Loreen had local friends, Charlie Wade agreed, saying, “Alright, just don’t stay out too late.”

After landing, the three took a taxi to their hotel. Once they checked in, Charlie accompanied the two women to Ginza for shopping. He checked online for the schedule of Aurora’s match, noting that the women’s final was set to start at 7:00 PM. So, at 6:00 PM, he bid farewell to the two ladies and took a taxi to Tokyo Budokan by himself.
