Fei Kexin was taken aback. She wanted to inquire more from Charlie Wade, but as she recalled the presence of ninjas among the CIA agents and those from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it dawned on her that there was a significant deception at play.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, she quickly asked Charlie Wade, “What are your plans, Mr. Wade?”
Charlie Wade replied, “I came here to support my wife at the concert. I can’t allow the singer to vanish or be harmed.”
He then instructed, “Take care of Claire; I’ll handle the issue swiftly.”
Hearing this, Fei Kexin paused and called out to Charlie Wade as he walked away, “Don’t worry, Mr. Wade.”
She turned back to the party, confident in Charlie Wade’s abilities. She knew a few ninjas would not pose a threat to him; her priority was to follow his instructions.
Meanwhile, outside, Mitsui Yoshitaka had just seen Tawana, Trevor, and a group of agents off to their car.
They were driving four vehicles in total, three of which displayed American flags symbolizing diplomatic status: two Cadillac Escalades and a sleek black Toyota bus. The fourth vehicle was an official car of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Despite the impressive convoy and all the necessary documentation, Mitsui Yoshitaka had yet to uncover any issues. It was Charlie Wade’s deep understanding of ninjas that alerted him to the problem.
During his previous visit to Japan to rescue Ito Nanako, he had encountered many of Japan’s top ninja families and had even taken down several. He was well-acquainted with the traits and training of ninjas, which is why he quickly recognized that the supposed officials from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs were, without exception, ninjas.
Just then, Charlie Wade spotted Tawanna and Trevor boarding the black Toyota bus and shouted, “Wait a moment!”
Mitsui Yoshitaka turned to see Charlie Wade approaching and quickly asked, “Mr. Wade, what can I do for you?”
Charlie Wade strode confidently toward the Escalade where Tawanna and Trevor were, saying to Mitsui Yoshitaka, “Mr. Mitsui, this party is quite dull. I think I’ll join in the excitement here!”
“Join in the excitement?” Mitsui Yoshitaka was taken aback. The CIA was actively working on a case, and Charlie Wade’s lightheartedness seemed misplaced. He knew that the CIA’s influence in Japan was significant, and he worried Charlie was underestimating the situation. Quickly, he pulled Charlie aside and whispered, “Mr. Wade, I strongly advise against getting involved with the CIA. You’re Miss Fei’s friend, and if anything happens, I won’t be able to explain it to her.”
Charlie Wade chuckled, replying, “Mr. Mitsui, my greatest strength is that I tend not to take advice.”
With that, he walked past Mitsui Yoshitaka and approached the Toyota bus.
The impostor agent, Pete Roger, was about to board when he noticed Charlie Wade approaching. He coldly warned, “The CIA is conducting official duties; please stay back if you’re not involved.”
Charlie Wade smiled and stated, “I’m Tawanna’s bodyguard. If you’re taking her away, I must accompany her.”
Inside the vehicle, Tawanna and Trevor exchanged puzzled glances, unable to comprehend why Charlie Wade, who had previously shown a distaste for Tawanna, was now claiming to be her bodyguard and insisting on joining them.
Pete Roger, eager to avoid conflict, explained, “I’m sorry, sir, but the CIA is in the middle of an investigation. Only those directly involved are permitted to join. Others must respectfully stand back.”
Charlie Wade, with a defiant tone, replied, “Stop with the nonsense. If you don’t let me in that car today, you won’t be leaving. That’s my word.”
