Pete Roger glanced at Charlie Wade. “Sir, my men—except for the ninjas in the other cars—are brothers I’ve been through hell with. If we return, they’ll certainly be killed. Can you let them come back with us under your terms?”
Charlie Wade looked at him coldly. “Do you think they’ll listen to you?”
Pete Roger nodded confidently. “Yes. They trust me completely. If I tell them the mission has failed and they’re safer coming with us, they’ll follow my orders.”
Charlie considered this for a moment before agreeing. “Fine. Tell them to turn back and head to the Dome. When they arrive, they must disarm, step out of the cars, and surrender peacefully. Anyone who resists will be killed on the spot.”
Pete Roger nodded fervently. “Understood. I’ll make sure they comply.”
He pressed the communicator in his ear and relayed the message. “Attention, everyone. The mission is aborted. Turn around and head back to the Dome.”
A voice on the other end immediately protested. “Boss, why are we retreating? We’ve come this far!”
Pete Roger responded firmly, “The mission has failed. We’ve encountered a powerful opponent, and continuing is suicide. Think carefully—if we fail, we all know what awaits us. Returning is our only chance at survival. If you don’t want to comply, you can disband and flee on your own. Good luck evading capture.”
Without waiting for further replies, Pete turned to the driver. “Turn around. Now.”
The driver obeyed, slowing down and making a U-turn toward the Dome.
Meanwhile, Tawanna and Trevor, still visibly shaken, approached the front of the car. Tawanna, now subdued, spoke hesitantly. “Mr. Wade… I need to call my family and the embassy. This is a serious matter—they need to know.”
Charlie Wade’s face remained expressionless. “No. Sit down.”
Tawanna frowned in disbelief. “Why not? These people are killers. Shouldn’t the Japanese police be informed?”
“No.” Charlie’s tone was icy and unyielding. “From this moment forward, I make all the decisions. You will not act without my permission.”
“But—” Tawanna began to argue, but Charlie cut her off sharply.
“No buts. If you can’t follow my lead, I’ll get out of this car and leave you to your fate. I couldn’t care less what happens to you after that. Now, what’s your choice?”
Tawanna was stunned. She hadn’t expected Charlie to be so authoritative, giving her no room for negotiation. Her initial anger flared, but the memory of what had just happened quickly extinguished it.
