In no time, the lavish wedding at the Sky Garden became the talk of the town.

Yet, the identities of the bride and groom remained a mystery.

Charlie drove his customized BMW 520 as he headed home with Claire.

Claire was still basking in the joy of the day, feeling as if she were floating on cloud nine. She couldn’t help but ask, “How did you manage to book the Sky Garden? They’ve never allowed that before.”

Charlie replied with a sly smile, “Well, the senior executive of Shangri-La is an old friend of mine from the orphanage. We went through tough times together, and I used to share my steamed buns with him. So when I asked for a favor, he happily agreed.”

Claire raised an eyebrow. “Oh, I see. How come I’ve never heard about this before?”

“I have many friends from the orphanage, and it would take me at least three days to tell you about all of them. I didn’t mention it because I thought you might not want to hear about my past,” Charlie explained.

With sincerity, Claire said, “You are my husband; I’m definitely interested in your past. I’m quite curious.”

Charlie chuckled, “Alright then, I’ll share more with you!”

“Great!” she replied enthusiastically.

Once they reached their neighborhood, Charlie parked the car downstairs.

As they stepped out, they unexpectedly ran into Claire’s parents returning from an outing.

Elaine, Claire’s mother, exclaimed in surprise, “Claire, where did this BMW come from?”

Jacob, Claire’s father, had a twinkle in his eye upon seeing the car. “Wow! A BMW! Is this your new car, Claire? You’ve really splurged, huh!”

Claire quickly corrected them, “Mom, Dad, I didn’t buy this car; it belongs to Charlie.”

“Charlie?” Jacob furrowed his brow, intrigued. He turned to Charlie and questioned, “Where did you find the money for this car? You didn’t use Claire’s money, did you?”

Charlie waved his hands in protest. “No, Dad, I bought this with my own savings…”

Elaine pulled Jacob toward the car for a closer look, then frowned, “Huh! You live under our roof, and we pay for your meals, but you don’t even show us appreciation when you can afford a BMW! You ungrateful young man!”

Claire quickly intervened, “Mom, please don’t talk about Charlie like that…”

With a hint of jealousy, Jacob remarked, “A 520? Does he really think he deserves such a nice car? I think a 3 Series would be more than enough for him!”

Elaine responded coldly, “Your dad doesn’t even have a car yet! At his age, he deserves to enjoy life more. Otherwise, it’ll be too late!”

Then, with a commanding tone, she suggested, “How about this? You should gift the car to your dad and let him use it!”

Claire turned to Charlie, biting her lip as she asked, “Charlie, what do you think?”

In Charlie’s mind, he didn’t mind the idea, but he knew the car was actually a 760, not a 520!

Truthfully, he thought a BMW 760 would be overkill for his father-in-law, who was a henpecked husband and not exactly in Lady Wilson’s good graces…

As he pondered this, he quickly crafted a flattering excuse. “Hmm, Dad, this is actually a BMW 520, the most basic model in the 5 Series. People might tease you if they see you driving it.”

Elaine frowned, clearly displeased. “Why? You don’t want to give it to us, do you?”

Charlie rushed to clarify, “Oh, no, no! That’s not what I meant! It’s just that I can’t let you drive such a basic model. How about this? Let Claire use this car, and I’ll buy you a 530. It’s a step up from the 520 and will look much better for you, don’t you think?”

Elaine looked intrigued, her frown softening. “You still have enough money to buy a 530?”

“Yes, I have some funds left since I only made a down payment on this car. Don’t worry; I’ll take you car shopping tomorrow morning!”
