Raymond stomped his feet in frustration. “He’s your father-in-law, isn’t he?”

Charlie replied with a nod, “Yes, he is my father-in-law, but he’s the one who caused the damage, not me. You should go find the person responsible for the broken vase. Have you ever heard the saying, ‘Find the real perpetrator, don’t involve their family’?”

Raymond felt his anger simmering, but as he considered Charlie’s words, he realized he had a point.

If news spread that he was demanding compensation from innocent bystanders, it would seriously harm Vintage Deluxe’s reputation.

With that in mind, he instructed his men standing nearby, “You! Go and bring the old man back here!”

Charlie couldn’t help but smirk silently as he watched the men rush off in pursuit of the old man.

He could easily swipe his card to cover the expenses, but that would only enable his shameless father-in-law further, wouldn’t it?

It would be far more beneficial for the old man to face some consequences and learn his lesson rather than having Charlie clean up after him. After all, who knows what trouble he might stir up next time?

Everyone at Vintage Deluxe was dispatched to track down Jacob, leaving Charlie alone at the shop. He glanced gingerly at the broken vase on the floor.

The vase stood about half a meter tall and had shattered into two large pieces along with a scattering of smaller fragments, which was truly unfortunate.

Suddenly, he noticed a hidden compartment at the bottom of one of the broken halves of the vase.

Curiosity piqued, he reached in and pulled out a small wooden box!

He never expected that the vase would hold such a mysterious secret compartment!

The Yuhuchun vase was known for its unique design, featuring a small opening leading to a much larger body. The wooden box was clearly two to three times bigger than the vase’s opening, indicating it had not been inserted later but was part of the vase’s original construction!

This box had been nestled within the vase since the Tang Dynasty!

Carefully cradling the box in his hands, Charlie examined it before gently prying it open.

As the wooden box creaked open, a refreshing, breezy fragrance wafted out, instantly soothing Charlie as he inhaled the scent.

Inside the box rested a palm-sized ancient book with a yellowish cover!

Charlie cautiously lifted the book and saw the title ‘Apocalyptic Book’ written in ancient script on the first page.

“That’s an intriguing title. I wonder what wisdom it holds,” Charlie mused, flipping through the pages.

The first chapter, titled ‘Medical Techniques’, detailed numerous cases and treatment methods.

Charlie furrowed his brow in curiosity. Having studied medicine briefly, he recognized that the content was significantly more advanced than contemporary medical practices.

Some diagnostic and treatment methods were completely unfamiliar to him. At the end of the ‘Medical Techniques’ chapter, he even discovered a section on alchemy and the effects of various medications, which were far beyond modern understanding.

Captivated, Charlie settled down on the floor and continued to flip through the book.

As he delved deeper, he realized the book encompassed a wide array of topics, including fortune-telling and mysterious practices like treasure inspection and restoration. It contained a plethora of unusual knowledge.

Charlie studied the text intently, feeling as if each word was embedding itself in his mind. His heart raced as if he were caught in a tidal wave.

He had stumbled upon a treasure!

This was truly the ultimate treasure!
