Chapter 4409
Kai’s offhand remark nearly caused the Right Blind Elder to choke with disbelief. The Elder had dedicated his entire life to mastering sword techniques and cultivating his sword intent, and here was Kai—a fighter who appeared inexperienced—effortlessly demonstrating a powerful sword intent! The disparity in their skills was stark, and it was evident that Kai had no inkling of the significance of his actions.
Lin Ke Ting regarded Kai with a mix of renewed interest, confusion, and skepticism. How could someone at the seventh-grade Transition Realm like Kai exhibit such formidable sword intent, especially with his spiritual power suppressed? It was clear he had somehow tapped into sword intent, yet he remained blissfully unaware of its true implications. This puzzling phenomenon only fueled Lin Ke Ting’s curiosity further.
Initially planning to venture onward alone, Lin Ke Ting turned back to Kai. “I didn’t anticipate you possessing such skills. Let’s team up. We can look out for each other,” she proposed.
Kai weighed her suggestion carefully. He was not well-acquainted with the Divine Demon Battlefield, while Lin Ke Ting appeared to have considerable knowledge about it. Joining forces would benefit them both, especially since Ji Yun and Zhu Qingxiu were in a precarious situation without their spiritual powers. If they encountered genuine danger, Kai realized he would struggle to protect both of them alone. However, with Lin Ke Ting and the Right Blind Elder, they would form a strong team.
Upon hearing Kai’s agreement, Lin Ke Ting smiled and led the way, while the Right Blind Elder maintained a vigilant position at the back, keeping watch for any potential threats, knowing that if Sand Scorpions were nearby, other dangers might lurk as well.
Before long, they stumbled upon an unusual sight—a cluster of enormous, oddly shaped stones towering above them. At first glance, these boulders seemed random, as if they were part of the natural scenery. However, Kai quickly discerned that they were anything but natural. The arrangement formed a small Vertigo Formation, a trap designed to disorient and ensnare anyone who dared to enter. Nevertheless, as a student of formations, Kai recognized the setup and knew guiding the group safely through would not pose a challenge.
Lin Ke Ting cast a brief glance at the boulders and then stepped forward, seemingly oblivious to the trap. Kai chose to keep his knowledge to himself, planning to navigate the formation without raising any alarms.
As they approached the base of the stones, each boulder loomed tens of meters high, creating an even more imposing presence up close. An invisible weight pressed down on the group.
“Mr. Chen, look! There are symbols all over these boulders!” Ji Yun exclaimed, pointing at the strange engravings etched into the stones.
Upon examining the boulders, Kai realized that the carvings might be ancient runes or possibly Immortal or Secret Laws. If that were the case, they would hold immense value. Unfortunately, he couldn’t decipher the symbols, leaving him feeling frustrated.
Lin Ke Ting took a quick look at the carvings. “They’re nothing significant—just markings left by someone. No ancient techniques here,” she commented dismissively.
Kai raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Miss Lin, do you recognize these symbols?”
Lin Ke Ting shook her head. “I don’t understand what they mean,” she admitted.
Kai felt a surge of irritation, tempted to argue. Here she was, acting as though she knew more than she did! Before he could voice his thoughts, Zhu Qingxiu crossed her arms and fixed Lin Ke Ting with a suspicious gaze.
“You don’t even know what they say, yet you assert they’re not important?” Zhu Qingxiu challenged. “Are you trying to mislead us so you can learn them in secret later?”
Lin Ke Ting’s eyes narrowed, clearly displeased with the accusation, but she remained silent, her focus shifting ahead as they continued to navigate through the formation.
