Chapter 4427
Kai was carrying Lin Keting on his back, and the delightful scent of her body filled his senses. The softness of her presence made him feel a bit lax.
Lin Keting reclined against him, a slight smile playing at the corners of her mouth as her palm gently pressed against Kai’s neck.
Suddenly, a dark red character, resembling the word “Ting,” appeared on Kai’s neck.
“Miss Lin, what are you doing?”
Kai asked, taken aback.
“Oh, it’s nothing. I’m feeling better now, so you can let me down!”
Lin Keting replied with a sneaky smile.
“You ……”
Kai was momentarily at a loss for words, but he eventually set Lin Keting down.
With a cheerful smile directed at Kai, Lin Keting happily moved forward.
Meanwhile, Kai remained bewildered, puzzled by the odd nature of Lin Keting’s smile. He recalled her sudden touch on his neck and quickly checked it with his hand, finding nothing out of the ordinary.
“What’s going on with this girl?”
Kai muttered to himself, still feeling perplexed, but he chose to follow her.
The ground was littered with skeletons that creaked underfoot, yet Lin Keting seemed unfazed!
After walking for a while, they realized they were still alone and began to wonder where everyone else had ended up.
Before long, a house appeared before them. This structure wasn’t made of traditional materials; it seemed to be crafted from the very void itself.
The house was somewhat concealed, twisting and warping along with the fabric of the void around it.
“Could it be that we’ve fallen into an illusion?”
Lin Keting remarked, frowning at the strange sight.
“No way. If this were an illusion, I would have sensed it immediately,”
Kai replied, shaking his head.
Even though his strength was suppressed, his Sea of Consciousness was an unassailable fortress!
For an illusion to take hold, one would need to stealthily manipulate the other’s Sea of Consciousness.
With a formidable guardian like the Red Cloud Demon Monarch watching over his Sea of Consciousness, and bolstered by the Great Luo Golden Canon, it was highly unlikely that any illusion could ensnare him.
“What’s up with that house? It looks so ethereal,”
Lin Keting questioned, disbelief etched on her face.
“Remember what the Thunder Beast said? That demonic cultivator left behind a fragment of his soul. I suspect this house is where that soul resides,”
Kai explained. “Since it’s just a remnant, it’s entirely plausible for it to manifest a house in the void.”
“Let’s go check it out …”
With that, Kai stepped forward, curiosity guiding his steps toward the house.
Lin Keting followed closely behind, her body inching nearer to Kai’s as if seeking comfort, almost hugging him. There was an undeniable sense of security that washed over her as she leaned against him.
Although their acquaintance was brief, the reassurance Kai provided was unmatched by anyone else.
As they approached the illusory house, the door creaked open slowly.
Both Kai and Lin Keting exchanged glances, feeling a peculiar tension in the air!
Yet, despite the strangeness, Kai pushed forward with determination, followed closely by Lin Keting!
Bound by their suppressed powers, their courage was evident as they entered the house.
However, just as they stepped inside, the door slammed shut behind them, and the scene before them shifted dramatically!
They found themselves in a grand hall, a stark contrast to the small house they had just seen!
Flanking either side of the hall were over a dozen bizarre stone beasts, each with flames flickering from their mouths, illuminating the vast space.
In the center of the hall, a cloaked figure sat with his back turned to Kai and Lin Keting.
