Chapter 4556
After flying for two days and nights, Kai felt exhausted. He landed on the ground and began to replenish his spiritual power. Fortunately, with ample resources on hand, Kai wasn’t worried about depleting his energy.
After restoring his strength, Kai studied the map carefully once again.
“It says we’ve reached the circled area, but nothing seems different here.”
Kai looked around. The dense jungle and the roars of monsters made this place seem no different from the rest of Tianmo Mountain. There was nothing unusual in sight.
He leapt into the air and flew forward again.
However, Kai didn’t notice a nearly invisible barrier hidden in the void, seamlessly blending into the environment. As he passed through the barrier, nothing seemed amiss at first.
But the moment he crossed it, his body suddenly plummeted, and everything around him turned pitch dark. Frowning, Kai retreated rapidly, unsure of where he had wandered. He needed to withdraw immediately.
Yet after pulling back for a long while, the scenery remained unchanged — a vast expanse of gray.
Kai stopped, steadied himself, and took a deep breath to stay calm. He scanned the area, but everything was still wrapped in a gray mist, devoid of any landmarks. He couldn’t tell where he was anymore.
“Is this some kind of alternate dimension? Thank goodness I have the Tianming Eye; otherwise, I wouldn’t see a thing.”
A glow appeared on his forehead, revealing a third eye — the Tianming Eye. He activated it and looked around.
To his dismay, even with the Tianming Eye open, everything remained gray and featureless. Panic began to creep in.
“What is this place? Why can’t I see anything?” Kai muttered in frustration.
Kai scanned his surroundings with his Tianming Eye, extending his consciousness as far as possible. He hoped to detect something — even the presence of a monster.
However, despite stretching his consciousness to the limit, he couldn’t sense anything. It felt as though he was the only being in this world. It was like the primordial chaos, where heaven and earth were fused into one.
After a while, Kai calmed himself and chose a direction to walk. The gloomy space was eerily silent, with only the sound of his footsteps and heartbeat echoing in the void.
He walked for nearly an hour, feeling as if this endless space had no boundaries. Realizing that continuing like this was futile, Kai came to a stop.
Looking around, he decided to try searching for an exit underground. If the surface was shrouded in gray darkness, perhaps the ground would offer a clue.
When he squatted to examine the ground, he was shocked to find no footprints behind him. Logically, after all that walking, there should have been a trail of deep footprints. Yet, there was nothing.
Surprised by this, Kai stomped down hard, leaving a half-meter-deep footprint. But then something strange happened — the footprint slowly vanished right before his eyes.
Seeing this, Kai exhaled sharply and smirked.
“So, this is an illusion array. It’s designed to trap me without my knowledge. Whoever set this up is quite skilled.”
Given his mastery of array techniques and his possession of the origin of illusion, it was clear that the person who ensnared him in this illusion array was exceptionally powerful.
