Chapter 4565
“Why didn’t you help me earlier? Now the fairy stone is gone, and without it, I can’t see my brother!” the girl wailed, her tears falling as she directed her frustration at Kai.
Kai watched her cry and couldn’t help but chuckle. “Let me guess—did you steal that fairy stone from someone else?”
“I…” The girl stammered, unable to answer. Her guilty expression said it all.
“Since you stole it, what’s wrong with them taking it back?” Kai replied calmly. “Do you really think stealing is the way to help your brother? Should I start doing things my way just to suit my own comfort? Is that fair?”
Kai’s sharp words left the girl speechless. Suddenly, she clutched at her collar nervously. “W-What are you trying to do? If you lay a hand on me, I’ll fight you to the death!”
Kai raised an eyebrow. “Why are you so paranoid? I was just making a point. Besides,” he added with a smirk, “your figure doesn’t interest me.”
The girl flushed red and snapped, “What’s wrong with my figure?” She straightened her back and puffed out her chest in defiance, but her efforts seemed futile.
“Here’s a suggestion,” Kai said, tossing a small fairy stone her way. “Be my guide. You seem familiar with Beast City, and I’ll reward you with this fairy stone. It’s smaller than the one you lost, but it’s still valuable.”
The girl caught the fairy stone and stared at Kai in disbelief. Fairy stones were highly sought after in Beast City, and here Kai was, handing one over so casually.
“Let me make one thing clear,” she said, her tone wary. “I’ll take you to Beast City, but don’t get any ideas. I’m not sharing a bed with you!”
Her words were laden with suspicion. As the saying goes, when someone is unusually generous, there’s often a hidden motive. She couldn’t shake the feeling that Kai had ulterior intentions—after all, what else could he want besides her body?
Kai shook his head, exasperated. “I already told you—I’m not interested in your body.”
“Interesting. You think I want to sleep with you? I don’t. It’s not like I lack female company,” Kai said, exasperated.
“I don’t believe you,” Yaomei retorted, her tone full of doubt. She seemed overly confident in her allure, assuming Kai must be interested in her body.
Kai sighed helplessly, realizing his earlier analogy had given her the wrong impression.
“Zhongli, come out and join me,” Kai said, summoning his sword spirit.
In an instant, Zhongli appeared beside him. Her figure was graceful, her curves perfectly proportioned, and her presence exuded an air of nobility. The years spent by Kai’s side had only enhanced her elegance.
Standing next to Zhongli, Yaomei looked like a simple village girl in comparison.
“Master, are you feeling lonely?” Zhongli teased, leaning gently on Kai’s shoulder.
“I might be,” Kai said with a grin, then leaned in and kissed Zhongli without hesitation, right in front of Yaomei.
Afterward, he instructed Zhongli to return to the Dragon Slaying Sword.
Yaomei stood frozen, her expression one of shock and embarrassment.
“Now do you believe me? I’m not interested in you,” Kai said, his tone calm but firm.
Biting her lip, Yaomei nodded silently, her confidence clearly shaken.
Without another word, Kai followed her toward Beast City. The atmosphere was quiet, and Yaomei seemed to be brooding over the incident, her spirits dampened.
When they reached the gates of Beast City, Kai looked up in awe. The towering gate stood hundreds of meters high, flanked by two smaller gates on either side. The central gate was massive but tightly shut.
“The middle gate is reserved for the city lord. It only opens when he enters or leaves. Otherwise, it remains closed,” Yaomei explained as they approached.
The two smaller gates bustled with activity. Monks moved in and out while guards conducted periodic inspections.
