“It’s just a breakthrough,” Kai replied modestly, then asked, “Uncle Qian, how is the fairy stone mining progressing?”
“I’ve gathered more workers these past few days, and a batch has already been mined. They’re all stored in the cave. Would you like to take a look?”
“Of course!” Kai nodded. Then, scanning the area, he asked, “Uncle Qian, where are my youngest sister and the others? Are they working in the mine too?”
“No, they probably went off to play nearby. They’re not needed for mining fairy stones,” Qian Yue replied with a smile.
Kai didn’t suspect anything and followed Qian Yue, leaping down into the mine.
However, as soon as they entered, Kai suddenly stopped, glanced around, and frowned slightly.
Noticing Kai’s reaction, Qian Yue’s heart skipped a beat.
“What’s wrong?” Qian Yue asked quietly.
“Oh, it’s nothing,” Kai replied, shaking his head.
Hearing this, Qian Yue quietly let out a sigh of relief.
But after only a few more steps, Kai paused again, scanning the surroundings once more.
Qian Yue froze, then stood beside Kai, his eyes shifting as if deep in thought.
“Uncle Qian, while I was away, you didn’t bring anyone else here, did you?”
“And the cultivators you recruited to mine these fairy stones—are they all trustworthy?” Kai questioned.
“Of course, they’re reliable! I only bring in people I can trust. I definitely haven’t told anyone else about this place,” Qian Yue replied, pretending to look slightly offended.
“You don’t trust me?”
“Brother-in-law! You’re here!”
At that moment, Kai’s youngest sister’s brother emerged from the cave, his face full of excitement.
“We’ve mined hundreds of fairy stones over the past few days—we’re rich!” he exclaimed.
Seeing him, Kai’s previously guarded expression softened noticeably.
“Has Xiong Kuo been here?” Kai asked.
“Yeah, he came by but said he had something to handle. He left with Xiong Ying and should be back in a few days.”
