An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2322
Jermaine was dead. His sudden death shocked everyone, especially since they believed he would win after using the Phantom Reaper technique.
This technique was a legendary move from two centuries ago, known for being unbeatable against opponents of the same level and capable of defeating those stronger than oneself. The Phantom Reaper could bypass physical defenses and barriers, striking directly at the target’s soul. Only those with strong mental fortitude could withstand such an attack.
At first, everything went as planned. After Jermaine unleashed the Phantom Reaper, he dominated the fight, not giving George any chance to counterattack.
But then, in an unexpected turn of events, Jermaine, who had been confident and in control, was suddenly pierced through the heart and died instantly.
The spectators were taken aback, struggling to comprehend what had just happened.
“Dead… Is he dead?” one person gasped.
“What the hell happened?” another exclaimed.
“It happened too fast! I couldn’t see anything!” someone else shouted.
They all stared in disbelief at Jermaine’s lifeless body in the ring, exchanging confused looks, unable to understand how their strong competitor had fallen so quickly.
“Faith, did you see that?” Alicia asked, wide-eyed, turning to Grace.
Just moments ago, Jermaine had been commanding the phantom to defeat George, shattering George’s shadowy fist and knocking him down. So how had he been stabbed and killed with a single blow?
“If I’m not mistaken, the blade came from Number 30’s body,” Grace said, her voice serious.
She continued, “It looks like he…”
George has a special power. He can turn the metal he eats into weapons, which lets him surprise his enemies with sneak attacks.
“What kind of strange ability is that?” Aurora frowned, confused.
Most martial artists focus on physical strength, energy control, or specialized techniques. But George didn’t follow those usual paths. He must have some rare supernatural abilities from far away.
At first, he relied only on his raw strength, which made people underestimate him. This mistake gave him the chance to launch a surprising and deadly counterattack.
“Is this part of the Giant’s plan?” Alicia frowned as she thought about the situation.
“First, he used a fist shadow to distract Jermaine. Then, he acted as bait, making Jermaine use the Phantom Reaper technique, which left him open for attack. Finally, the Giant used his special ability to defeat Jermaine with his blade,” she explained.
“Are you saying he saw the weaknesses in the Phantom Reaper technique?” Aurora asked, both surprised and skeptical.
“No way. How could a foolish, gorilla-like man have such sharp insight or planning skills?” she added.
The Phantom Reaper technique caused severe mental trauma. It could leave weaker opponents mentally stunned or even kill them instantly.
Even with George’s great strength, such a mental attack should have given him a terrible headache. It seemed nearly impossible for him to remain calm or notice the technique’s flaws.
“If I’m right, he probably had help from someone skilled,” Alicia said, glancing at Jeremiah and Bill.
The three of them were working together. The other two wouldn’t have just stood by if George was in trouble.
They might have used some secret signals to give George the advantage he needed to turn the fight around.
It looked like cheating, but their actions were subtle enough that nobody noticed, and there was no solid proof to back it up.
“Ugh! How awful! They’re using dirty tricks because they can’t win fairly. It’s disgusting,” Aurora said with a scoff.
“I always knew those guys were trouble. It’s such a shame for Jermaine. He finally mastered the Phantom Reaper technique and could have made a name for himself. Who would have thought he’d die in the battle ring?” Alicia shook her head, feeling disappointed.
Jermaine was so close to reaching grandmaster level. With his Phantom Reaper technique, he could have achieved great things if he had survived. His tragic end was truly sad.
“If I were Jermaine and had learned the Phantom Reaper technique, I would have kept it secret until I was strong enough to protect myself before showing it to the world,” Aurora said.
“Life is full of surprises. It’s too late to change anything now,” Alicia sighed.
Suddenly, maniacal laughter echoed in the battle ring.
George, still shaken from the fight, slowly got to his feet. Despite looking pale and unsteady, he smiled with triumph. He knew he had made the right choice and won.
“Dragonmarsh martial artist, your special abilities are impressive. You almost defeated me, but in the end, I came out on top,” George said as he approached Jermaine’s lifeless body with a sneer.
He raised his foot and stomped down on Jermaine’s head.
There was a loud, sickening crack. Jermaine’s head burst open like a watermelon, splattering red and white everywhere.
