An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2351
The saber struck the ground before its owner even arrived, shining with a fierce light.
“This saber looks so familiar. I think I’ve seen it before,” someone said.
“If I’m right, that’s the Inferno Saber belonging to the leader of the Bloodfire Legion,” another replied.
“The leader of the Bloodfire Legion? Is he really competing in the tournament? Isn’t he too old for this?”
“Actually, the leader has passed the Inferno Saber to his top disciple, Kendricks Lang, who is ranked eighth on the Legendary List,” came the response.
As the crowd whispered, a dark figure suddenly soared into the air. He landed on the battle ring just as the golden saber hit the ground with a loud boom.
The figure was a tall man dressed in black, exuding a cold and powerful presence. He looked to be in his 30s, with a sharp gaze. A broken black sword hung across his back, adding to his intimidating look.
This was Kendricks Lang, the eighth-ranked fighter on the Legendary List. Though many had never seen him before, he was well-known for his incredible skills and mastery of the blade. He had never been defeated since he gained fame.
“Oh no, I can’t believe I have to face him,” Azalea whispered, glancing at her numbered ball. With a heavy sigh, she stood up from her seat and made her way to the battle ring.
Even with the treasures Abigail had given her, Azalea felt unsure. While those items could help against ordinary grandmasters, she doubted they would be effective against a legendary fighter like Kendricks.
But since he was her opponent, she wasn’t going to give up easily. She was determined to do her best, not wanting to disappoint Abigail and wishing to honor the Mystic Arts Order.
“A woman?” Kendricks frowned as he watched Azalea approach the battle ring. “How interesting…”
Kendricks’ shoes.
“It’s disappointing,” he thought. He had expected to face a strong opponent from the Legendary List, not an unknown woman. Winning against her didn’t feel like an achievement he could brag about.
“I’m Azalea Larson from the Mystic Arts Order,” she said as she stepped into the ring. Her gentle smile and polite nod made her stand out with a kind of elegance that was hard to ignore.
The male spectators in the stands perked up, their hearts racing at her presence. Though all the female contestants were beautiful, Azalea was especially striking. There was something otherworldly about her, a charm that was impossible to resist.
“I don’t want to fight a woman. Just surrender,” Kendricks said, his voice flat and his gaze cold.
To him, women were not as important as his saber. He preferred to focus on perfecting his sword skills rather than engaging in flirtations.
“I didn’t expect you to be such a gentleman. But since I’m already here, I can’t just give up. My mentor would never let me live it down. Please go easy on me,” Azalea replied, giving him a delicate, almost pitiful look, trying to gain his sympathy.
“Drop the act,” he responded with a blank expression. “If you want to fight, don’t expect me to hold back.” Even though he didn’t want to fight a woman, he wasn’t the type to show mercy.
“Oh… I must have misunderstood. If you’re determined to fight me, I’ll just have to endure it.” She shook her head, her downcast eyes making her seem helpless.
While Kendricks remained indifferent, the male spectators were captivated. They felt their hearts soften at Azalea’s seemingly vulnerable demeanor. They knew they would have surrendered without hesitation if they were in her position.
Kendricks’ shoes were elegant and delicate. Who would dare to harm such a fragile beauty? After all, letting Azalea win could help him build a reputation as a gentleman.
“The fifth match starts now,” Oron announced as both contestants prepared.
“Shall we begin?” Azalea asked politely. She seemed calm and unhurried, giving off an air of composure.
“Alright then, I won’t hold back.” Kendricks wasted no time. With a quick motion, he summoned his golden saber back into his hand.
As he stepped forward, the sharp edge of the saber scraped against the battle ring, leaving a long trail and scattering sparks behind him.
Even before he swung the blade, his strong presence sent a chill of apprehension through the crowd.
“Blossom Storm!” Azalea called out, raising both hands and pointing them at Kendricks.
Suddenly, a storm of hidden weapons shot out from her sleeves, filling the air with a relentless shower of projectiles.
Knowing Kendricks was a master swordsman, Azalea planned to avoid close combat. She aimed to wear him down with thrown weapons and poison darts, striking quickly and retreating to find the right moment for a decisive blow.
“Pathetic tricks,” Kendricks scoffed as the projectiles flew toward him. With a flick of his golden saber, he unleashed a massive wave of golden energy.
The wave soared over 30 feet high, crashing forward like a tidal wave. It effortlessly consumed the swarm of projectiles, leaving no trace behind.
The unstoppable wave surged toward Azalea with terrifying force.
