An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2420
The people coming out of the fog were wearing masks that covered their faces, but each one had the Hall of Gods emblem on their clothes. Leading a small group among them was a man named Dustin.
Dustin had felt a battle happening nearby and decided to leave his team behind to check it out on his own. He didn’t expect to find another group coming out of the fog.
“What’s going on? Why are there so many bodies here?” Dustin asked.
“It looks like they faced a strong enemy. Stay alert, everyone!” one of the members replied, as the sight of scattered bodies made everyone uneasy. They exchanged worried glances between Dustin and Aven.
“Dustin, what are you doing here alone?” The leader of the new group recognized him right away.
The Hall of Gods had many teams, each identified by different colored masks. The team leaders wore special emblems.
“Hank?” Dustin squinted as he recognized the voice.
“What happened here?” Hank asked cautiously.
“I don’t know. I just stepped out of the fog,” Dustin said, shaking his head.
“Really?” Hank looked at him with doubt. “Then why did you leave your team behind to come here alone?”
“The fog was confusing, and I got lost,” Dustin explained.
“But that’s not what your team said,” Hank replied.
“Oh? What did they say?” Dustin raised an eyebrow.
“They think you left them on purpose and abandoned them in the fog,” Hank said bluntly.
“That’s just one side of the story,” Dustin said with a faint smile. “I’m sure you don’t believe that, right?”
“Of course not. I trust you, Dustin,” Hank said, his tone warming up. But then it turned colder. “But to clear up any doubts, I think you should prove your loyalty.”
“How?” Dustin asked.
the forbidden ground, you’ll have to get through me first,” Dustin replied confidently.
Hank’s anger grew. “You think you can stop us? You’re outnumbered and outmatched.”
Dustin smiled, unfazed. “Numbers don’t matter if you don’t have the will to fight.”
“Maybe you’re brave, but bravery won’t save you,” Hank retorted, gripping the hilt of his sword tighter.
Dustin took a step closer, his eyes locked on Hank. “I’m not afraid. I know what I have to do. You’re the one who should be scared.”
Hank narrowed his eyes. “You’re making a big mistake. You think you can just walk away from this?”
“I’m not walking away, Hank. I’m standing my ground. You’re the one who should reconsider,” Dustin said, his tone steady.
“What do you mean?” Hank asked, curiosity piqued despite his anger.
“I mean, if you continue this path, you will lose everything. The Hall of Gods won’t protect you forever,” Dustin warned.
Hank hesitated, the weight of Dustin’s words hanging in the air. “And what do you suggest?”
Dustin took a deep breath. “Join me. Help me stop the invasion. Together, we can save what’s left of Sacred Wrmy Summit.”
Hank laughed, but it was a hollow sound. “You expect me to trust you after all this?”
“I don’t expect trust. Just think about it,” Dustin replied earnestly. “The choice is yours, but time is running out.”
Hank stared at Dustin, weighing his options. The tension between them was thick, and the fate of the forbidden ground hung in the balance.
“You’ll have to get through me first to reach the Sacred Wyrm Summit,” Dustin said, raising his sword and pointing it at Hank.
“Fine! You’ve made your choice,” Hank replied with a fierce look. “Don’t expect any mercy from me! Everyone, listen up! Whoever kills him will get double the reward!”
The crowd behind him buzzed with excitement. Their eyes sparkled with greed as they realized they could earn a fortune by taking down Dustin. The risk of entering the dangerous Sacred Wyrm Summit seemed small compared to the reward.
“You dare to challenge the Hall of Gods? Today is your last day!” a large man shouted, swinging a broadsword. He was eager for glory and rushed at Dustin with incredible speed.
“Let’s kill him!” shouted others as they joined the fray.
The crowd surged forward, weapons drawn, ready to attack. These were skilled assassins, and the promise of a double reward made them willing to kill, whether it was one man, ten, or even a hundred.
