An Understated Dominance - Chapter 267
Natasha shrugged and took a seat at the dining table. She reached for the deviled eggs and smiled, saying, “Thank you for breakfast, darling. You’re so thoughtful!”
“Actually, those eggs are mine,” Dahlia replied, pulling the plate closer to her. “It’s been three years, but I still love Dustin’s cooking. He knows I can’t resist deviled eggs.”
“Ms. Nicholson, you need to stop thinking so highly of yourself. The past is gone. These eggs belong to me now,” Natasha shot back, dragging the plate toward herself again.
“Ms. Harmon, taking something from someone they love isn’t a good habit. These eggs are made just for me!” Dahlia insisted.
“What makes you think I don’t like deviled eggs? I love everything Dustin makes!” Natasha countered.
“Hmph! Just because you like them doesn’t mean they’re right for you!” Dahlia replied with a smirk.
“It’s my choice whether they’re suitable!” Natasha argued.
Their conversation grew more intense as they tugged the plate of deviled eggs back and forth. Neither woman wanted to give in, as if losing the eggs meant losing something important. Dustin watched the scene unfold and felt a headache coming on. He honestly didn’t think he deserved all this attention.
In the guest bedroom, Caitlyn peeked out, confused by the noise. “Max, what do you think Ms. Harmon and Ms. Nicholson are doing? Do they really need to fight over some eggs?”
“Caitlyn, you’re too young to understand the complexities of a relationship between a man and a woman,” Maximus said mysteriously, stroking his chin. “They’re not just arguing over the eggs; it’s about their pride as women!”
“Pride?” Caitlyn still didn’t understand.
“Dustin personally cooked those eggs; whoever gets to eat them first wins this battle!” Max explained with a grin.
Maximus watched in amazement. “Just like I thought, he’s incredible. Beautiful women are all around him, but he stays focused and calm.”
“Look, they’re about to fight, and Dustin still looks so relaxed. He’s definitely someone to admire!”
Dustin, with his keen senses, overheard them. He turned and shot a glare at Maximus and Caitlyn. The two quickly ducked back into the room but peeked out a moment later.
“Dustin, you decide! Who do these eggs belong to?” After a heated debate, Natasha and Dahlia turned to Dustin, determined to get the answer they wanted.
Dustin felt the pressure of the question. His lips twitched, and he started to sweat. “Uh, these are my eggs!” he blurted out. He grabbed the plate and quickly ate all the eggs. With that, the argument was over.
“Hmph!” The two women shot each other angry looks before turning away, still unwilling to back down.
“Only Dustin could think of such a clever solution!” Maximus admired Dustin’s quick thinking. He felt like dropping to his knees in appreciation. This was what a true pro looked like.
Once he finished the eggs, Dustin broke the silence. “Dahlia, did you come here for something?”
“Do I need a reason to visit?” Dahlia replied, still looking annoyed.
“Well, no,” Dustin admitted, feeling a bit awkward.
“I came because we’re having guests, and you need to meet them. You might even be able to make some money. I don’t want people to think you’re just living off me.”
Dahlia shot Natasha a sharp glance as she spoke.
“What’s wrong with him relying on someone? Not everyone gets that chance!” Natasha replied, unfazed.
Soon enough, the two women were arguing again.
